what's the deal with pot smoking in Vancouver?

So, I'm in Vancouver BC for the first time and I wanna smoke some dank. Whats the deal? I did a little research and found the New Amsterdam Cafe, which allows pot smoking, but doesn't sell it. What's the deal on procuring it here? Is it bought on the street? I read that some shops sell it? Anybody who knows what's up, lemme know

I think they quit selling it to tourist this year. Idk though, but i read something like that.

It is just like anywhere else is Canada, its illegal unless you have a medical license. There are dispensaries. There are also smoke/vape lounges for anyone who wants to use them as they are a grey area of the law that is generally left alone.

Some places might might might sell you some, places like the NAC but it depends. The Vape Lounge / Cannabis Culture won't as they don't need anymore fucking legal trouble as is.

We have never openly sold cannabis to tourists you are confusing this with the whole issue over in the Netherlands where you might need to be a citizen to purchase cannabis at cafes in the future.

It's not like I came here as a drug tourist, if I just wanted to smoke weed, I got plenty back home in Bellingham. I'm a daily smoker though, and would like to smoke some.

How do you ever score weed from a stranger?  Hope you get lucky.

In grade 12, I went to Vancouver for National Music fest.  We went to the restaurant directly next to our hotel for dinner on the first night.  When we were leaving, we asked our server if she could get us weed.  We left her our number, and an hour later, we had an oz of some of the best weed I had smoked for $160.

most people here buy from private dealers or compassion clubs i would think, word of mouth type thing.

I've bought weed from plenty of strangers in the past. Not in years though. I've been smoking for about 20 years, so I kinda know who to look for usually.

As soon as you get to Canada, you can pretty much smoke up where and when you want.

Weed is easier to find than coffee...

true that. But that said, so far ive been hanging with my not so hip parents. I'm sure if I were solo or with my friends it would be a different story. My stepdad is willing to go with me though, so that'll be different.

I don't buy weed from strangers, but you might luck out if you spend the afternoon in a park where stoners seem to hang out, and just shoot the shit with people. You might find someone who sells weed or you might not.

Seriously just walk around long enough and someone will definitely ask you "looking for some herb" eventually. It is everywhere, and as long as you look like someone who is looking for weed (i.e. you're not wearing a suit etc.), you will get asked.

My other piece of advice if you don't get asked, is go in a pizza shop/pita pit/subway and find the worker who looks like a stoner. Ask if he happens to know where to obtain some weed. I had a 100% success rate doing this while I was in b.c.

Cops will take weed away from you but generally if you aren't carrying a ton/aren't being an idiot otherwise they don't give a shit. People openly smoke there everywhere.

Head over to east hastings. I lucked out by talking to a homeless guy. I gave him $10 bucks to introduce me to 'a guy'. Easy peasy. Really great bud in Vancouver.

I ended up rollin in there with my stepdad who looked like a cop. I kinda tried to ditch him, but didn't want to hurt his feelings. I just sat down near a guy who had a jar full sitting on the counter and was like "hey- Ive never been here before. What's the protocol. He told me that you can get it no prob at the park across the street, but he just gave me about a half an eighth. Cool dude. It was super dank too. Way better than the crappy canadian weed that comes across the US border.

it was cool to get to smoke in an open public environment like that. I'm kinda on a quick trip to BC just for my weekend, but I wanna come back for sure when I'll have more time to chill.
