Well, I think the type of force it would take to dislodge the flap has a fairly good chance of causing severe damage in the first place so....
Plenty of NFL players have had it done so it wasn't a concern.

That's why I had PRK and not LASIK - no flap.

yah thats what i don't understand PRK sounds better than Lasik in every way except heal/pain time which isn't all that much longer. Pretty sure i heard the results are even slightly better

I'm surprised everyone says it is risky. Your pupils dilate in the dark. Do they tell you not to go into the dark?

no but they do tell you not to stress your eye's, if they feel fatigued to stop what your doing for example being on the computer. So, id imagine a road tripper most likely won't be driving in the dark, some do most don't, so then he is putting more stress on his eye's the entire time, altho i guess its debatable which parts of it

I think he meant trip on drugs, not go on a road trip, unless I don't understand something. Whatever, I got nothin' else to say.

Yes but you have to sit there with your eye pried open while they cut your eye open. Some of the newer technology is pretty nice though and they have a machine that just lowers onto your eye and does the whole process of cutting and correcting your vision but iunno...it just gives me the heeby jeebies.

im told once your prepped the actual cutting and correcting takes less than a minute per eye. With PRK they don't even cut your eye they just rub the outter thin layer off or something, then drop the lazer u stair at a light and poof over. Altho i imagine at the time a full minute would seem alot longer, little worried about if your eye moves and it screwing with the laser but i guess the new ones follow your eye around to

anyone who's had prk have you had any dry eye problems? I been reading this "lasik" or "prk" websites that seem a bit nazi about the surgury and the side effects. I always hear eye surgury is the safest surgury u can get but they do list dry eyes as a possible side effect and the stories on those websites sound pretty shitty.
Then with prk i thought basically your eye was the same as before the surgury after it heals and whatnot but apparently it destroys the bowmans membrane or something? and that never grows back? i don't want to have my eyes burning for the rest of my life and to have to use eye drops everyday
basically i went from face eating hungry for the prk surgury to not so sure anymore

I've had lasik. I haven't experienced any issues with dry eye or night vision (e.g starbursting). However, I do recall that these are the most common adverse events associated with either surgery.
Even 7+ years ago, the machines could detect something like .0006 microns of movement (or something ridiculous like that).
