Greatest thing I've ever done for myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the "wavefront" procedure done, and I now see perfect 20/20. After 25 years wearing glasses, the change is shocking. I swore up and down wasn't NOBODY going near my eyes with no laser, but several friends and colleagues had it done-even my 67 year old aunt was all happy and abuzz after her procedure, so I went to check it out, and the Doctor really sold me on it.. Best cash I've ever spent..

Me too. And I have depth perception for the first time in my LIFE. My vision was horrible; now I can see perfectly fine (I'm not 20/20, but I'm fine with that; 20/20 tends to give me a headache anyway). I had to fly across the country to get it done, because Los Angeles is one of the worst and most expensive places to get it done, but it was so worth it. Go LASIK!

and how bad was your vision? and had it stopped getting worse, or will it continue to get worse now, just boosted up to almost 20/20?

I got LASIK performed on my eyes two years ago or so. I went from being able to barely see anything to nearly 20/20 vision.
It was one of the best things I ever did.

$1200 per eye sounds pretty damn steep...I heard somewhere around $800 per eye a couple of years ago. I can't believe it would have gone up since then because they keep making the procedure simpler and simpler. Anyways, I'm sure different surgeons have different prices...wouldn't want to lowball with my eyes.

I've been contemplating this as my X-mas present this year. Been wearing glasses for about 13 years now and I'm blind as a bat without them.
Just curious, are there many different types of procedures? I'm familiar with the basics but wtf is up with things like the "wavefront" procedure? has any specific technique proven better than others?

I had this done the old school way with molecular (flint) blades back when it first came out in the US ('85). Guy was trained in Russia by the guy who (accidentally) discovered it. It worked great for 8 years but now I'm old and decrepit and far-sighted as a bitch. good luck and enjoy it while it lasts. Also it fucks your night vision to hell. Cost me $2000.00/eye. I got so fucked up on pain killers afterward I fell and busted the hell outta my lip. Some fun ay?
