I had mine done aboot 15 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I had horrible astigmatism so instead of about 10 seconds per eye mine was about 30 seconds per eye to correct that.
You're going to want to try and sleep right away after the procedure. after the numbing drops wear off it feels like really bad flash burn (if you've ever had that, I mean your eyes just got reshapped by a laser)
The smell is sort of off putting of them using the laser on your eyes.
One thing that happened to me is that they invited me in for my consultation and offered like 20% off. After the consultation they said if I didn't come back in 6 weeks or less to get it done the 20% was off the table. That was a little shaddy and I don't know if they'll do that to you but just saying be ready to pay because 20% is a decent chunk of change.
Only downfall is my night vision is not near the same. Lots of halos on passing cars, sensitivity to brightness, sunglasses will be a must for you now.
All in all def better than shoving contacts into your eyes every morning or dealing with glasses.

I never actually got many details from him but it seemed worth it. I hope to get it one day so I can stop needing glasses for some stuff.
he didn't get lasik if he had to wear patches, he had the PRK laser surgery. It was before Lasik

I just don't mind wearing them and I'd never have surgery on something I don't need to, only if mandatory.

It's definitely best to wait until your prescription is stable, but this generally happens once you stop growing. Also, multiple operations are possible, but this depends on a few variables, not everyone is a candidate, and don't expect more than a second go.

This is fair enough. It is technically a cosmetic procedure that runs a slight risk of ruining your eyes. This is a fact everyone considering lasik should contemplate.
That being said, in my case I spend a lot of time solo hiking in wilderness areas. I lost my glasses once, and luckily was with my cousin because I couldn't see my way or sight landmarks. Losing them while on my own had the potential of leading to my own death, without exaggerating. With that in mind, the risk, cost, and discomfort, were all well worth it. But I'm not you, and you're not me.

I only got it done because i literally couldnt read giant letters from even 6-10 feet away without glasses or contacts, they just looked like big blurry blocks, do to my line of work I was breaking or scratching my glasses pretty consistently and with contacts I was way too lazy/irresonpsible with them and would keep them in and sleep with them in for months at a time. I'll definitely save more than I would of spent on glasses/contacts within a few years at most since the procedure
I hated not being able to see, loved waking up being able to, but would of eventually fucked my eyes up pretty bad had I not got it done (which obviously would have been my fault and completely avoidable but still), I'm pretty sure the deal I payed for included free touchups for life IIRC. But that only goes for problems I have seeing things farther away since thats what they corrected.

It was relatively safe 15-20 years ago and from everything I've read and talked to with eye dudes now the technology and reliability is threefold what it was. It's advanced and the risks are even less now I'm definitely going to do it at some point. Eye doctor said my eyes are prime candidates for it.. ~1500 / eye is about what I would expect

I have the same issues, but I've never had laser surgery or anything, I always wear sunglasses through out the day, my eyes start to hurt and I tear up if I leave em off for too long..

The night vision thing was a concern of mine as well, as I value my night vision and don't want 'halos' and shit. Optometrist told me it was mostly not even any issue anymore, that the risk of something like that happening was low 10-15 years ago but is significantly lower now due to all the advances, like less than 3% of people report issues now or something.

Yeah same here Zs. I have issues with the bright and dark contrasts and brightness in general sometimes. I worry about making that worse since it's already a thing. But that's a problem with the brain stuffs I think since I do have visual processing issues. I hate driving in the rain because the reflections make me think things are places they're not or reflect light in my eyeballs or make puddles that make me think somethings on the road.
My vision isn't that bad, so comparatively dealing with that is way worse. I always go for the more expensive glasses that cut down glare and transition to shades in bright light for that reason.
But if my vision itself were much worse I'd definitely be more open to the surgery. I can't do contacts, at all. The eye doctor put some in once, had to put numbing drops in my eyes, and then I had to go back to take them out again. That shit is torture to me But my independence is important to me. If I couldn't see well enough to know where I am and what's around me I wouldn't want to put all my faith into a stupid piece of glass and metal.

It's been twelve years since I had LASIK. I think in total it cost me around $3500ish at the time. Got a small discount with my insurance if I remember correctly; but I'm still rocking 20/15 in both. Best money I every spent!

I had bad night vision before I had it done. The doc told me the halos were from my astigmatisms (mild in both eyes). After surgery... crystal clear. Just find a place with a good rep and good doc. I haven't regretted mine for a second.

My doctor (S) says my eyes are a severe near sighted that is not a stigmatism, and that something as simple as Salvia Divinorun Would correct it in a process where I use colored contacts to enhance my eyes color, which is currently green........so, I don't want lasers doing it because that's not organically natural enough....Sally will do it fine, why it works I don't know, but I'm counting on it. Hes testing them again next week..NEW CONTACTS I LOOK SO UGLY WITH GLASSES I HATE............fo sho
