alright, screw all these new, seizure inducing, graphically stunning games, old school games rock. thing is, i dont know enough good ones to check out, and we all know there were a lot of crappy ones to just advoid all together. so if anyone could suggest some older rpg's, adventure, action or 2d shooters to check out please list em, thanks.

Elite - that's really old school. I used to play it on ZX Spectrum. What about pre-historics like Manic Miner & Jet Set Willy. Anyone remember them? ( http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~broada/spectrum/willy/ )

Manic Miner was the shit, except that music:
duh duh duh duduhduduh duduhduduh duduhduhduh
Man I could talk about old skool games for ages. Thats the problem with being born in the seventies - its our generation.
The mid-late 80s was the best for arcades, who remembers Rygar, Bubble Bobble, Darwin, R-Type, jeez the list is endless, they were my favourites though. Also one of my faves was a game called X-Multiply - quite rare outside of Japan.
Go download mame32 - virtually every arcade game ever created is emulated perfectly in it.
Dammit see what you've started, bang goes my social life for the next week!

I'll never forget that music. It used to be background music in my nightmares for years. LOL.

I have a soft-spot for Toonstruck (a cartoon adventure game). Virgin Interactive spent an insane amount of money (for the time) on hiring Christopher Lloyd and nobody played it.
-------------------- The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame". In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience. And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him. "Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

You gotta check out Kings Quest if you have not already.
The first four games are in the old, text-command style and from number five on the mouse is used for control. The games are made by Sierra and I think Roberta Williams wrote them all. They fucking rock, IMHO.

STARCON 2!!!
that's one o the best RPGs ever for sure.
LEMMINGS!!!! (somebody is making a version for linux called pingus it's good too check it out)
BOMBER MAN BOMBER MAN BOMBER MAN[/x]
the bomber man for super nes.. bomber man and super bomber man are so fucking good when you have 3 or 4 people playing. Blows my mind every time I play it. So fun, so hectic. If you can find a super nes, buy it, and buy the 4 controllers and the adapter so that you can hook em all up then wait and wait and hope that one day you get bomberman it's so worth it.

The old C64 had quite a few hotties. The original BombJack is a classic, and Creatures (1 and 2). I have boxes full of the tapes in the attic. Oh yeah and, Badlands and Supersprint were pretty hot in the arcades.
Now that I think of it, there are too many to list.

Impossible Mission for Commodore 64
"Look another visitor. Stay awhile, STAY FOR EVER!" LOL.. a classic. Also worthy of mention are Barbarian (1+2...they both came on the same tape), and IK+ (possible the two best arcade style fighting games ever made!).
I agree Toe Jam and Earl was pretty good too, for the MegaDrive/Genisis.
Howabout Powerdrift in the arcades, and outrun. Oh yeah, and everyone must remeber Syndicate for the PC? Think I still have it somewhere!

Ghost's N Goblins- the best side scroll game in history! Get MAME emulator and the gng rom. Maddeningly difficult and addictive, if you beat it please come back and tell me how.
