Maniac Mansion 1 and Zak McKracken are the best games ever, I'd like to add Betrayal at Krondor

"Black Tiger" arcade game was great, and the emulator I got for the PC works great. "Ghosts N Goblin" is another great side scroller.

"Wizard" for the C-64 was great.

"M.U.L.E." for the C-64 is probablymy favorite game of all time, or maybe the various computer versions of RISK. I like multiplayer competition an social interaction

King's Quest series (the old school ones that have the text entry command and crappy old school graphics) rocks!!! Unfortunately win2k doesn't like to translate the text very well and I can't find a way to make it work :|

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/  For a DOS emulator that is quite useful for very old games, say pre-93, everything that doesn't use protected mode (dos4gw if you remember), without it pretty much nothing will run on W2K, XP has a 95/DOS compatibility mode that is rumored to work more often than not.

Good places to get old games:

www.the-underdogs.org < probably the best and most complete site (that I've found at least) for getting old games that the IDSA hasn't shut down yet
www.old-games.net < website for efnet #oldgames

IRC
undernet #oldwarez and #classicgames .. #classicgames has a trivia bot too, great fun
efnet #oldgames
Please do read the channel rules as you enter, you will just find yourself banned if you don't
Each of those chans usually has 50-120 people in them, you should be able to find a LOT, definitions of old range from pre-97 to 98 I think, requesting newer games will get you nowhere, except perhaps for a banlist. Many servers there also have a whole lot of emulation stuff.

(old games 3evah)

Well, they got those too. Just meant that you won't find anything newer than 97/98.

Games I enjoyed when I was littler:

Goldrush
Space Quest 1+2 (not 3)
Civilization
Colonization
Sokoban (though there are good clones out that won't give you hassle on newer systems)
TFX
Pinball Dreams/Fantasies
Wizardry 6/7 but they are a bitch to get running well, at least there's Wizardry Gold
Fallout1/2 were already mentioned but can't be mentioned enough, though fairly recent really
SimCity and SC2000
Some other Sim's like Earth, Life
Falcon 3.0
ALL LUCASARTS/LUCASFILM GAMES ADVENTURES
Red Baron/Aces of the Deep/Pacific/over Europe

There's so many more..

Didn't really like any Sierra adventures other than Gold Rush/SQ.. well, maybe Larry

That T-shirt you refer to has the NES controler on it, and it says "Stick to your roots," or something like that.

And the code for 30 lives?

Up. Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, B, A, select, start!
How could you forget?!

Anyway, yes, I'll have to agree with some of the following postes:
Ghosts and Goblins (though when I play it now, it doesn't seem as much fun)
The OLD King's Quest were my favorites. I would spend weeks on end playing these games. AWESOME and VERY creative! Go online and look for a hint list if you can't beat a certian part within a week!
Maniac Masion for NES (you guys have been referring to part 1, though I was unaware that there was a part 2. Any good?)
Spot (Another NES game that I have a hard time finding. Cool puzzle/strategy game, somewhat like a warped checkers. Nice Challenge. You know the red dot in between the "7" and the "Up" on a 7Up can? Well, there you go!)

The C64 had a HUGE amount of games. I don't see how any one site could possibly cover all of them.

Great thread guys!

Peace.

Peace.
