Black widows aren't aggressive like that. They usually only bite when provoked. Spiders are beneficial and eat pests such as mosquitoes, biting flies, and conenose or kissing bugs. They actually eat other spiders so if you really don't like spiders you should just leave it be. I'm not superstitious but in some cultures it is considered bad luck to kill a spider especially in your own home.

A very small percentage of Black Widow bite victims die. (something like 5-8%??) Don't quote me on it; I haven't had an Entomology class in years.

As far as I am concerned, all spiders die. Down here in the south, we get our share of Black widows, but we all get Brown recluses and Fiddler backs spiders. Those are some nasty, nasty spiders so I kill every spider I see. Some people are like, but they kill bugs. I say so do geckos and garden lizards except they will not poison me and rot my flesh.

ya know...... people have found ways to get high off of deadly venom from cobras and scorpions.....
