How big are they? It's hard to tell from the photos.
At first glance those look like pale specimens of Stropharia rugosoannulata. To verify that you need to look closely at the top of the ring on the stem - it should have radial grooves or striations.
Happy mushrooming!

I have found younger specimens of Stropharia rugosoannulata before, and from what my book says on what happens to them when they age, I think you are right in your identification, ToxicMan!
Nice job!

well they are fairly big, like a big cube in size ( i know there not).. what do you mean by the top ring of the stem?
I assume no magic?

No, no magic. On the positive side, if you confirm the ID, this species is considered a choice edible.
Look at the ring on the stem. It has a top and bottom. Check the top for grooves or lines that go out from the stem.
Happy mushrooming!

Then that confirms the ID as Stropharia rugosoannulata.
They are considered a choice edible by some people.
Happy mushrooming!

You should keep an eye on that area in case any more decide to fruit, and get some pics of the younger specimens. I'm sure that's when you could harvest'em to cook. Winecaps are suppose to be tasty.

make sure you get a good description of the mushroom and compare yours to them. it is very important you are positive of the id.

Here are some photos of some Stropharia rugosoannulata that I took a little while back. I thought they might help you in identifying the mushrooms you found more positively.
Also, here is the information from my ID book on this species:
Rough-Ring (Stropharia rugosoannulata): Large, more or less robust, purplish brown cap; surface streaked. White to dingy yellowish stalk, with a thick, scaly ring.
Cap: Obtuse to broadly bell-shaped at first, finally rounded with a low hump and often upturned or split toward margin at maturity. Surface smooth at first but not sticky, becoming streaked and often developing radiating cracks or sometimes minute scales. Reddish to purplish brown at first, but fading quickly to light yellowish brown to grayish yellow, sometimes with olive tones. Flesh thick; firm. Odor not distinctive. Gills broad, close to crowded, adnate (broadly attached), nearly white, then bluish gray and finally dark grayish reddish brown.
Stalk: Solid, tapering upward from a slightly enlarged base. Survace smooth to fibrillose or roughened, splitting in dry weather; white, but quickly turning dingy grayish and darkening somehwat on handling. Interior firm, white except ykellowish just under surface. Ring set high on stalk, membranous, thick, two-layered; lower layer separates to form hard, recurved, claw-like scales.
Spore print: Dark purplish brown.
Technical notes: Cap 5-15 cm across. Stalk 10-15 x 1-2 cm.
Fruiting: Solitary to clustered, often in distinct rings. Common on cultivated, heavily mulched soil, but also in woods; frequently abundant. Found during Spring in Northern U.S.
Edibility: Edible and highly rated. Cultivated in Europe.
I hope this helps you make sure what species you've got here! Don't want you eating anything that might kill you!
Peace,
RebelSteve

Your's look like wine cap stropharia. The color fades as they get older, and the cap opens up. They come up burgandy and ussually end up the color of your's.
