Correct airflow on flow hood

Using a gateway box afoaf wants to place a filter on one side and a computer case fan on the other side. Due to some discrepancies on some previous posts, You want the fan to pull the air out of the box while being drawn into through the filter?

The filter was a 3M I think, its for furnaces but suppose to get contaminates down to .3 micron, does anyone here believe that to be sufficient for use as a filter on a flow hood?

any thoughts would be appreciated...

A computer case fan will not be powerfull enough to draw air through any kind of filter.

I can stop one of those with my finger. The fan in my flow hood could break a window it puts out so much pressure, yet you can barely feel anything coming out of the filter. Its 1/2 horse power.

The 3M furnace filters are typically just prefilters to help clean air being drawn into a fan so as not to clog up a HEPA too much with large particles. You will not get sufficiently sterile air flowing through that thing on its own.

Frell.... and I was hoping for some good news atleast neutral... oh well.. any ways How did you come by your fan?, where did you get it from? and how would I go about getting a similar one?

p.s. was I corrrect on the direction of the flow of air?
as in fan and filter on opposite sides?

You can get squirrel cage blowers at ac/ furnace repair shops cheap.
I paid 40 $ for a home furnace blower. I took it apart, cleaned it. Sanded the rust and repainted. It blows paint off the walls!
