Re: Maitake clone growth New Photo of growth rate [Re: Amanita virosa]

The maitake clone showed good growth last week and is ready to sub-culture.  I plan on making as many plates as I can, plus a few slants.

So this culture comes from a maitake i got at work around this time last year. The date on the dish is 2011. I kept the original in cold storage and early december did a few transfers. This jar is oak pellet dust. It was inoculated on 1-22-12. Its growth is slow but MUCH better than last years attempt to make rye spawn. The growth was so slow, stalled, then eventually became over ran with bacteria and all kinds of nastiness. So this year, after two transfers from the T1 of last year, i decided to try sawdust spawn. So far so good. The seemingly wet or darker upper strata is the myc of the maitake creeping down. I had the dust a little packed in the jar so couldn't mix up the agar wedge too far down.
That being said, does anyone have a good sawdust based bulk substrate i can move to once this jar grows out, if it grows out? Im planning on using some of it for g2g, and the rest to inoculate the bulk sub. Then attempt to inoculate a tree stump in my back yard.
Im still new so if this is rude to hop on here please tell me?

Sorry to bump this old thread but wondering if anyone has had any  luck with that maiatake I sent out to date.  I just knocked up 20 logs with plugs from it.  It colonized the plugs vigorously;  anyone tried indoor fruiting it.  Please let me know if you have any luck

I have it on grains.

(this was the watery agar dish right?)

It has not struck me as a particularly strong colonizer, but it seems to be progressing.

Thanks,

JD

P.S. I ask above because I got two different samples of this
species at the same time.

dunno if it was a watery agar dish, but it was a small colonized plate.  Seemed to take to the rye pretty well and def colonized the plugs well.  anyone else?
