Thought experiment: Giving ESP to children
    #1600856 -

Sharks are able to feel/sense electro magnetic fields.

what if we could give newborns (homo sapiens that is) the abillity (cybernetics) to sense these fields.

The neuronal pathways in the brain might easily adapt to such an implant because children have very flexible nervous systems. blind a child just after it is born and the corresponding visual system underdevelops etc.
If it could given time Such A child will instinctively master this ESP. Sensing EM waves of a given spectrum etc.

So, how much data is available in these fields? I have a feeling it would not be an adequate replacement for vision.

Ah well it need not be an adequate replacement.it could be added.
Let's say that the visual system allows for some extra input. The visual system could adapt to accomodate such an input.

would that not be unfair to the child?
but still..i think out of anyone, a child might understnad it more, since children are so 'pure' (to me at least)

And we could use plastic surgery to implant an artificial fin on the babies back...

You know how the goverment, talks about lsd and dna damage. Well,... damage could actually be the evolution. This is strange, sorta came to me in a dream, i could have misinterepted though. Psychdelics being a physic catalyst, kinda makes sense.

LOL !
True, and any time our kids didn't meet our expectations, we could always send
them back to the Science Lab  :smirk:
Personally, I'd rather not have ESP, I have enought trouble
handling my 6 senses

I'd rather be born without desires, peaceful, happy, content and compassionate.
But then maybe we'd just sit around in Nirvana all day doing nothing
and the species would die out.
Makes me wonder if it's "survivial of the fittest" or "survival of the discontent"
