No, happiness is our nature, suffering is created by a preoccupation with the external.


Personally I find the opposite to be more true. Preoccupation with internal thoughts/emotions and concerns create unhappiness and more suffering.

Most problems/suffering can be solved by just taking action and not obsessing/thinking about it or by just letting go.

You're describing the intellect, not the innate intelligence.

Thinking doesn't make you smart, it's a compulsion most of the worlds population suffers from. You can still think and be free from depression. Most suffering or depression is caused by being self conscious.

That's why most of these religions telling you to watch thought, and certain practices. Are making these "spiritual" people even more self conscious and taking them away from their natural state of being. Increasing conflict with oneself, making depression and anxiety worse.

Most suffering or depression is caused by being self conscious.

Right you are imo.  This is why being in a flow state, doing just about anything with full attention, stops depression in it's tracks. One cannot focus on the self.
