Stop chasing then.

Easier said than done, sometimes.  This can lead straight into another thought loop about "how to stop chasing".

i think the trick is to observe yourself chasing your tail and to become impartial to the happiness or sadness you may feel in the process. you have no control, you are impermanent and everything is unsatisfactory.

:publicfart: thank you, sir. i was a little out of hand there... my point was everything is a chase. one can understand things but, there is no way to catch something that is constantly in front of you.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I'm most definitely partial to happiness. There is no way getting around that I like pleasant neuro-chemical states.

My approach is reminding myself to live in the moment and to always remember that no matter how much more I acquire, I will not be satiated so there is no point in becoming fixated on gaining something in the future.
