thats the problem, we dont have police training, an im 19 n would make this bitch sit on her face, without having to use an actual weapon.

under florida state law, the officer had a right to shoot her with his pistol.

Yeah and you would do that even though the suspect might have AIDS and needles in their pocket? Or some contagious skin rash? Or hair lice? Or [fill in the blank with some nasty shit you don't want]? I doubt you would be tackling suspects if you put any thought into what you're saying.

Aside from the cop risking catching some disease or parasite from struggling on the ground with a suspect, the available statistics show very clearly that injury rates for both police and suspects have gone down since tasers came into common use. Before tasers, broken bones, knocked out teeth, and police getting an elbow to the face during a struggle were more common. Now, one zap and the struggle is over. I don't blame the cops for using them.

Others here are talking about shooting her in the leg with a bullet. Well, what do you think happens if he hits an artery and she starts bleeding out? She'll be dead from shock by the time rescue arrives. Plus if he misses and the bullet bounces off the ground, it can kill someone in the distance. This is why cops are trained to shoot at the center of mass. It minimizes the risk to everyone else while still stopping the suspect. It's the best of several poor choices.

The whole thing went very badly in this one instance, but if you take a large sampling, this one instance is offset by many injuries that don't happen any more now that cops have tasers. But it's also inevitable that once in a while an unlikely set of events will lead to a serious injury or death as it did in this case. Again, it's the best of several poor choices available to a cop when a suspect runs.

And like I've already said, cops are WAY trigger happy with tasers. I'm the first to agree. But in this particular case, he did the right thing. All you armchair cops in this thread don't have a clue WTF you're talking about.

i disagree, although you could view it both ways. im sure alot of cops who arent fat would of chased her and thrown her down, but if ( correct me if it says she was reaching for something , i would taser her if she was )  she was reaching for something then a cop should use a taser

stop bringing in the rarity of someone falling on the ground after running and going brain dead. it just dont happen that often. and when yourin handcuffs and your gunna hit the floor (from experience ) you pick your head up believe me.  the cop should be able to easily overpower and outrun someone in handcuffs:facepalm:

How often do people get tased and end up in a coma from hitting their head? This girl isn't brain dead, stop saying misleading things.


I want to know if you still would have had a problem if the cop would have tackled the girl and she hit her head. Would that have been just as bad as tasing her?

ok ' in a vegetative state ' hours aftet the incident, whatever bro, i dont gotta knock the girl flat on her face to tame a handcuffed ( no armed/handed person ) . if she had hands well she would be able to break her fall n save her head/face. i'd go with the hands on approach rather then reaching for my taser because of a lack of physical stature problem. but then again im not a fat fucking cop sittin at the doughnut shop

if she had been tackled ( which isnt necessary for a man to tackle a unarmed - handcuffed women ) HIGHLY FUCKING UNNECESSARY. and then hit her head, i think it could be argued in a court of law and could go either way. its a blurry subject. but as long as he wasnt trying to overkill the victim and she fell and went into a vegetative state then thats when the saying " shit happens. " comes in

so really this is because you hate cops. Admit it. There was nothing wrong with what he did. If this girl DIDN'T end up in a coma, it wouldn't even be a story. It would be "multiple felon flees scene and gets tased" to which we would all say "so what?". That's the truth. Except there are too many people who just hate police for the sake of hating police, like you.

I don't think there's anything wrong with what he did because unfortunate accidents happen, taser or not. The cop obviously didn't know that she was going to end up in a coma after hitting her head, how could he know that? How can you be any more sure that the same thing wouldn't have happened if he had tackled her?

The fact is that this was just a fucking accident. It's unfortunate, but it isn't that big of a deal.

No they wouldn't. You're making shit up. Cops today are trained to taser people instead of tackle them because 1) It reduces the chance that the cop or the suspect will be hurt. Fewer people end up in the hospital today because tazers reduce injury rates. And 2) because it is risky for a cop to come into close contact with a suspect, so they are trained to avoid it when possible. HIV-infected people with needles in their pocket is one real risk, and no sane cop is going to take that chance if he doesn't have to. Especially with this chick who has a history of drug arrests.

No she wasn't handcuffed. Read the thread. In addition to all the other shit trouble she caused, she also escaped from the cuffs. Read the thread. If reading is too hard, look at the pictures. It's all there.

Not that it matters. She shouldn't have been driving while fucked up, with a suspended license, doing TWO hit and runs, and then ON TOP OF IT ALL, running from the cops.

And Anthony is right on target. Had he tackled her and she cracked her head, we'd be reading about what a dick the cop was for tackling her instead of tasing her knowing that he weighs twice what she does. So he should have tased her instead. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't with you people. Nothing a cop does sits right with you.

her hands were in front of her, I've posted screen caps showing this, so
tell me how someone maintains their motor functions when they're tased when
the whole purpose f the taser is to disrupt control of the muscles and send
them all into a spasmodic state

A guy a couple towns over from me just got tasered 8 times by cops. He is not brain dead what did they do wrong?


RIB MOUNTAIN -- Police used a Taser to shock a combative Rib Mountain man eight times before they could subdue him during a disturbance at his home.

Police said Vili Yang attempted to barricade himself inside the bathroom of his home Sunday morning when officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute.

Officers were called to the home in the 2200 block of Mallard Lane at 4:30 a.m. by a neighbor. Two children living with Yang went to the neighbor's home and reported that their parents were fighting, Marathon County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Scott Parks said.

When officers arrived, they spoke to Yang's wife and then went inside to speak to Yang. He ran to a bathroom and locked himself in, Parks said.

Officers spoke to Yang through the door and heard a metallic sound, which they believed could have been a weapon, he said. Officers forced the door open and used a Taser, a device used to deliver an electrical shock, but Yang continued to physically fight with officers, Parks said.

Police say they believe Yang had been using drugs because he didn't appear to feel pain after any of the shocks, Parks said. Taser guns shoot thousands of volts of electricity into their targets, usually enough with one shot to incapacitate a person.

When the Tasers failed to subdue Yang, officers struck his legs and arms with batons until they could place handcuffs on him.

"Deputies followed the department's use of force (procedure)," Parks said. "They went from a verbal warning to the Taser then finally to the impact weapon when the Taser was not successful."

Parks said Yang hit officers and bit one officer during the struggle. The five deputies involved in restraining Yang were "battered and bruised," but none required medical attention, Parks said.

Yang remained at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Monday for treatment of his injuries, Parks said. He will be moved to the Marathon County Jail after treatment.

Parks said the Taser and baton strikes might have caused muscle tissue injury.

Police have recommended 10 charges against Yang: false imprisonment, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, keeping and maintaining a drug trafficking house, two counts of battery of law enforcement, bail jumping, possession of ecstasy, resisting arrest, domestic disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Six children were living in the home, and all are now staying with their mother, Parks said.
