Check out this version of the complete mod as well, demanding but way more polished than the pripyat one.  http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009

The comp i have now was good/decent when it came out (5ish years ago).  It has a quad core with 4 sticks of ram in it already,  I imagine the.. processor is it? May be on the slower side of things *shrug*.

I dont play anything else really, thinking about purchasing the overhead view Warcraft. But that'll probably be it.

If i was to go to that MSI afterburner and get that "overclocking" unit, would that stress this graphics card and burn it out?

It could if you fuck around with voltages and overclock it to hell without knowing what you are doing.
Just don't mess with voltages, and bump the core clock / memory clocks only in very small increments at a time.
Although you are only going to get so much mileage out of an 8400.

For $100-150 you could get a new card that will perform 3x faster/better

I figured out the problem.  I'm a moron. lol

I'll admit it, i was still plugging my monitor into the old connection instead of the graphics card.  AHh lay off me, :p .  How was i supposed to know? Should have but didn't.

NEW QUESTION:  Or concern i spose, I mainly play CS 1.6 .  I used to get 60 fps, now i'm only at 70, not as big of a leap as i was hoping for.  Graphics card i purchased for $65 is a Geforce 8400 GS.

Is 70 FPS as good as this card will go?  If so I may as well reluctantly throw in an extra $40 and get a gaming card.

Thoughts? Comments? Jokes?

I did the exact same thing when i bought a new graphics card awhile ago, it happens man. apart from i bought a graphics card that didn't have the right port for my monitor. So when i actually figured out it needed to be plugged in to the graphics card i have to buy an adapter ¬¬ :wow:

I don't think there is much need for much more than 60 fps imo, it just gives more room for graphical improvement with less fps loss. I THINK. :P

Like shroomism said, yeah you could possibly burn out your card, but that is mainly if you mess with voltages. When bumping up the clock speeds on the card, do so in increments of 10. Bump it up by ten, load up a game, check if it's stable and repeat until you start to crash or get artifacting.
