Yeah I know; I've worked on ranches too.  But here's the deal, almost 80% of the meat we consume as a country isn't raised that way.  For those of us in areas like this, we have pretty good access to nice beef.  For everyone else,

a feed lot isnt a factory farm, it's a finishing station where a cow
spends a month or two to fatten before slaughter or auction. it's far too
cost prohibitive to raise cows in close confinement even on hay as a daily
ration. even when buying by the truckload you cant get grains for under
$7/50lb in the US and with cows eating 50lbs of feed per day a farmer
wouldnt be open more than an hour

know why Kobe, Wagyu and other beef cattle coming from the same genetic
stock costs so damned much? only partially because of the genetics but
dominantly because the people emulating the japanese methods are trying to
keep paying for feed... that's why wagyu is cheapest at $50/lb while
Mishima, Matsusaka, Ōmi, Kobe and Sanda Beef can exceed $230/lb
