Ever done low dosage psilocybin for a long period of time?

A friend and I have tripped together dozens of times over the years. One question we've had lingering. We've noticed that on mellow (low dosage, say 2 grams or less) trips we don't "bug out" so much but have very clear thoughts. The conversation just flows and our minds operate on an advanced level. We are not "spaced out" but, on the contrary, quite coherent and sharp.

So we were wondering, has anyone ever tried doing a low daily dosage for a long period of time? We were thinking that one could take psilocybin as a daily supplement. Say, 1/2 gram midday in capsule form, every day. It wouldn't be enough to flip you out or anything, but just enough so you knew it was there. Then you would have that state of mental clarity and heightened awareness, and stay that way all the time. No visuals or anything, no jellyfish body sensations, just the flowing thoughts.

Has anyone done this? Long term effects? Recommendations? Dangers? Would love to hear some experienced opinions on the subject.

interesting thread and interesting comments. However I think your were dosing much more than I would like to. I was thinking not even enough to consider it a "trip." You know, like you ever have just an 1/8 on hand and too many people want to split it? Then you just take like a few caps to perk up your mood. That's the kind of trip I'm talkin. No more than 0.5 grams per day. And of course, no other medications to interfere. I don't feel like you did a controlled enough experiment. Interesting, though.

I wonder if you'ld find that tolerance built up very quickly and you'ld start to find that 0.5g was having no effect.

If you try it, post the results though :smile:

I think if the dose was very low (like below noticeable) you should do the experiment with your friend and have another friend give one of you placebos but neither of you know which ones they are.

I dunno if tolerance would happen w/o tripping. I think shroom tolerance is the extra seritionin from tripping. It wasn't my experiment btw

Interesting experiment. I've also done this, low doses, its like drinking a strong cup of coffee. A good boost. I found I enjoyed working more, could play chess at a much higher level, write alot of code, destroy people in computer games, just be better all around, etc. But after a few hours I would be worn out and need short rest. I recommend avoiding doses that will make you hallucinate.

You also got a good idea about this experiment.

As for the other persons experiment who tried to say they did this alrdy -

yea they kind of thought of this, but that persons experiment was all jacked up, hed did multiple diff drugs during the test period. Also that experiment was poorly documented, if u do go through with this, then document it well.

albert hoffman has only tripped a dozen times... is this because he learnt enough from those experiences, or because he's just not that into it.

ALbert Hofmann is not dead. He is retired and living in Vevey, Switzerland.

He just celebrated Bucycle Day in Switzerland to commenorate his discovery of LSD and how he rode his bicycle home after becoming inebriated from some seaping into his fingertips.

Albert was straight and not into it. He did benefit from his experiences and grew on them instead of spending his life tripping whenever he wanted to.  His envolvement was different than most peoples interest.

It was with a scientific viewpoint that he approached the drug-subcultures interest in his discoveries.

Interesting... I'm kinda like that - my interest in the drugs themselves and their use rivals my interest in the experience given by them.

You've met a lot of icons like Hoffman from what I've read on your site. How did you come to meet them?

I wish my generation would pick up on the lessons learned by the older generation of drug users... but I fear it is not so, generally speaking.

while I have the attention of a supremely experienced enthogen enthusiast such as yourself, i'd like to know what eating cubensis powder is like, as compared to eating the full, dried mushrooms. i know, wrong thread...

Well it is hard to explain but the trip experience is about preparation, set and setting and expectations. Take 15-20 minutes or more to eat a dose of mushrooms. Wheter it is one latrge shroom or 20 to 40 smaller shrooms.. Wheter it is one P. cyanescens weighing 16th of a fresh ounce or 2 or 3 small ones. You need to let the body absorb the alkaloids in a certain amount of time.

In opowder or tea ot soup, etc., they come on fast and this is not what is good for the body.


Anyaway, wat them slow. It is better in the long run adn no skitzyness or paranoia and a wonderful rewarding experience witll ensue.

Shit... too late. I already turned them to powder! What if I drink the tea over a 30 min period? Is there anything I can do to right my wrong?

Y9u can dringk the tea over a period of time. Many just down the whole glass of tea or cup and boom they are off in a few minutes. Not what the trip is all about.

Also when in the form of tea, you only get off on the psilocybine and lo0ser the psilocine.
