Strawberries: Should I attempt aeroponic or hydroponic?
    #10759247 -

So a little bit of backstory here. I started growing Alpine Strawberries this year. I'd read that they were the most delicious variety of strawberry and sought to see for myself.  So I planted way too many seeds, and wound up with way too many seedlings. Eventually, when it was warm enough, I moved a bunch to my garden. They've been vegging all summer, and a few weeks ago they finally started blooming.  Today I got my first ripe Alpine Strawberry.  They're funny looking things. A pointy berry, maybe a centimeter and a half long. Mishapen by grocery-store standards, and easy to overlook on the bush.  The moment of truth was upon me, and at last I would see if the berries lived up to the hype.  I popped the tiny berry into my mouth.

My mouth was bombarded with a combination of everything sweet and wonderful I had ever tasted.  A flavor so rich and complex words cannot describe it properly.  I can only put together pieces of it. My mind was filled with thoughts of cotton candy at the circus, overripe peaches on a warm summer day, rose petal jam served by a beautiful Azeri girl with tea high in the Caucasus mountains, a myriad of incredible tastes and memories all compacted into such a tiny fruit.  Instantly I knew that every strawberry I had tasted before this day was a lie.  A mere shadow of what a strawberry really is.  And I am no city boy raised on the tasteless berries of suburban grocery stores. I was raised on country berries that would put any grocery berry to shame. But these! These would put country berries to shame!  As if someone had made a 100x extract of those berries. It was incredible. Mind blowing.  So amazing it inspired me to draw the picture above to try and convey to you how delicious it was.

So I thought to myself, I must have these year round. I must tame the berry and grow it in such a way that I can have it whenever I please.  To share with people I know, and spread the greater strawberry reality of Alpine Strawberries.  I began toying with the idea of trying to grow them hydroponically or aeroponically.  They seem like a plant that would be well adapted to that sort of cultivation.  So I made this topic, inquiring the advice of people who know more about setting up these sorts of systems than I...

So shroomery, what should I try?
I'd like to do this DIY rather than buy a system.
Any idea which would be cheaper to make as a DIY?
Are there advantages to using one over the other?
Got any good resources on the subject?

I've looked at a couple of DIY systems people have made. It looks like something that is within my capability. What I haven't seen a lot of is instructions on how to feed, and what sorts of nutrients to use.  Obviously most of what's out there won't be optimized for strawberries, but I'd at least want to get a feel for what's ballpark, and then tweak from there.  Book suggestions would be great as well.

Hallo Horticulture,

Have you had any success in either  aeroponic / hydroponic culture of alpine strawberries to date ?

I would very much appreciate your feed back on the same. I have read your above post and am very curious to follow your foot steps of
beginning with aeroponic / hydroponic alpine strawberry culture.
I am a newbie in the agriculture field with very basic knowledge of
growing plants.

Could you please take some time to put down your experience on DIY apline strawberries.

Moreover, could you please refer me to a reliable source to buy alpine strawberry seeds for my DIY strawberry endeavour.

Thanks in advance.
