UPDATE:WW/MK Aeroponic at 3 weeks
    #2757337 - 06/02/04 05:28 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Hi
This is  a new venture into growing aeroponically(rootfeeding/rootbreathing)

the aeroponic system used costs AUD$200(about $50 cheaper to make yourself with all the  hickups ie leaks/not having a clue etc)

they went straight under 400hps lights after a few days from hatching

the strains were imported by stealth mode
they are Whitewidow and Master Kush

3 seeds of each were soaked for 24 hrs in a seed feminizing hormone called 'sensa-soak'
only 3 sprouted,1 WW and 2 MKS',one  MK died

They are fed  15min on /15 off during the 18 hrs and fed for 15 mins a few times during the dark 6
i am using noname(hydroshop newts)for veg as well as guano all
at 2/3 strength at the moment

i will be switching to 12 in a couple of weeks(i think)

i'm really impressed with the way they look, what do you guys think so far?
here they are so far from seedling to 3 weeks today:

its just the hydroshops own brand of newts for veging(the parts a&b kind) its in liquid form
and guano(bat shit concentrate)
i aslo forgot to mention that they have been getting 'silikamajic' since being under lights at 2 mls per 10 litres(the rez holds 30 litres)
its supposed to strengthen cell walls inside the plants and help stop nutrient toxicity as well as giving branch strength for buds

What's the difference between an aeroponic and a hydroponic system? Is one superior to the other?

im nto to sure. but i think aero ponics is a bit more expensive but helps good root growth because of alot of air. im nto expert just what i can figure.

hagbardceline: aeroponics is the future!!
with hydro the roots are soaked in water/solution and then drained but with aeroponics the roots hang in the air and get a fine mist sprayed on them as well as oxygen from the little spinning sprayers like miniature fans
its about the same price to setup either i'd say

So are you able to mist the roots more often than you would soak them in a hydroponic system?

Do then fans still operate on the (aeroponic equivalent) drain cycle, so the roots would have a constant supply of moving air?

This does seem like a superior system that allows the plant to uptake more nutrients, but does it allow for the maximum uptake? In other words, is there any other system that could facilitate the growth of the plant anymore?

I'm certainly no expert, but your plants at 30 days look exceptional to me. In color, health, and maturity. Is this above average compared to either conventional or hydroponic grows?

there is 2 compartments
the resovoir is the bottom tub for the pump, water, nutrients
then another tub sits on top of that resovoir
this second tub has 6 holes cut in its lid for the netted pots
the roots dangle in the air inside this tub
there is a pipe system running through the bottom of this top tub that runs down into the rez
it has 4 sprayers that come on every 15 minutes and then it stops so the roots have time to dry and aerate abit
it also has an airstone in the rez with the pump sitting on my window sill sucking in fresh air 24/7

your not alone,i can't believe how fast its growing
i can see a difference everyday!!
its still not on full nutes either:
