Ok I've listened to it a bunch. It takes some getting used to. I've found it to be catchy when I didn't think it would be. Beautiful in parts, not some pretty in other parts. I feel its slightly over dramatic but understated at other times. Definitely not their best work. I can tell they are really just playing out of their element. The parts that sound like Opeth are fantastic. The other parts, not so much. The first half og the album is decent. The later half is less thrilling. I didn't like it very much the first time I heard it all the way through. By the third time I caught myself humming along to parts and anticipating upcoming pieces. I really don't know if this album qualifies as an Opeth album. It like nothing they've done before. It sits alone.

On a 1-10 scale I would give it a 6.

^ pretty much how I feel about it as well. I'm starting to like it more but I doubt I'll ever love it. Other than I Feel the Dark, Haxprocess is certainly gaining my affection, The Lines in my Hands too a bit.

So far, as much as I love and could listen to the death metal of them until the end of time, I can always listen to their proggier stuff for just as long. :smile:

i really like opeth so i wanted to see what you meant about not liking the album cover. From a distance everything looked cool, upon further inspection i see that they opted to put their heads on the tree. pretty lame.
