More pretend progressive rock for people who forget what happened in a song two minutes ago. Expect random changes between death metal and acoustic or other "light" parts, in a technique ripped from Linkin Park, and lots of guitar noodling that doesn't quite make it out of standard blues/rock harmony but sounds like it might. If you like this album, you are touching yourself right now and imagining it is gay Jesus returning to bring justice, peace and multiculturalism to all of us, especially the retarded children. Think of the children.

So, someone can only criticize if they can perform what they are critiquing? That's bullshit. That's the whole point of releasing it to the public. To let other people hear it and either like it or dislike it and then discuss it. If music was only to be critiqued by other musicians, I could see your point but that's not the case. I'm not a cook but if my steak's burnt, I'll send it back.

Also, I'm not sticking up for Conservationist; he's an elitist that posts on blackmetal.co.uk and is quite the dick.

By the way, I haven't heard Watershed but I do enjoy their older material.

Watershed is just as "hard" as their other albums.  It's really a great album that incorporates even more styles of music than their previous albums.  There's a few tracks that have a jazz feel to them, which is great.

I can't fucking stand people who want bands to continuously release the same type of album over and over.  I want progression, damnit.  Opeth does release albums that show progress not only of maturity but developing higher and higher skill levels.  :shrug:

I just wanted to say that talent doesn't always equal the ability to write an interesting song. Dragonforce are a prime example of this.
