Just my opinion. Adult conversation, you know? You don't have to agree with anything I say, but at least let me say it. I am very spiritual, but I am against all religion. There are no rules to enlightenment, and you do not need to go anywhere but inside your own mind to reach it. Believe what you want. I still love you.

Well if you want to have an adult conversation, dont be so quick to call my beliefs shit. They mean something to me, I have no problem discussing other ideas and belief systems. But I don't like when I have my beliefs insulted as I dont isult yours. But anyways please answer how my following of christianity is mass mind control?

Your beliefs are not shit and I apologize for saying that. I use 'shit' instead of 'stuff' often.
Anyway, I do not KNOW anything. I THINK (like I said before) that religion creates fear and they use that to control a large amount at once. Be good and go to Heaven - have anything you want. (Meanwhile most American Christians have been mocking Allah's 40 Virgin reward since 9/11) Be bad, go to Hell. Sounds like training a pet. Roll over - get a treat.
I am not attacking anybody. At least I don't mean to be. I am simply putting my thoughts on religion in the philosophy section, under a rant about Jesus' lying parents, where it belongs, I think.
Please no one else take me seriously again. Ever.

Jesus was a liar because it is impossible to return from the dead as he did. Unless he was personally unaware that he had not actually died, he was a liar. He also lied about who his real father was. Joseph was a liar because there was no virgin birth, he fucked Mary, and she lied about it as well. Unless Mary cheated on Joseph with another man, in which case she was the liar and she lied to protect both their honor. No surprise Jesus would claim God was his father in that case since Joseph was so chickenshit that his wife cheated on him with some mangy goatherder.

If I were to assume the bible was an accurate description of what happened then I would agree.

Why do you believe in Christianity?


Growing up (I am only 25 as of today) my mom never forced a religion or any belief system on me. She did have me baptized and let me go to church with an aunt when I wanted. (I only went then cause my aunt would by me all kinds of candy afterwords). She only had me baptized in case I wanted to become Christian on my own later in life. She is atheist, and still to this day supports me pursuing my beliefs.

Well as I got older, I would start to think about the world and how it came to be. I felt there was a higher power. An entity that made all of this. The world is just to beautiful and there is so many different individual organisms that it just seemed impossible to believe in macroevolution (even then matter had to come from somewhere), and the big bang theory is a joke to me (throw some paper and a pen in a room, toss in a bomb. When you open the door again there wont be a book I assure you.)

Overtime I kept getting intrigued by Christianity, so I read more on it and went to some youth groups. I started reading the bible and praying. A lot of things happened in my life that I believe are direct results of my praying and faith.

Dont get me wrong I questioned a lot of things in the bible. And there was times when I gave up on christianity. Especially when I would get told to just believe don't question just believe. I luckily eventually found a pastor that allowed me to ask questions and answered when he could and if he honestly didn't know the answer didn't shun me or pretend he did. He also taught that some of the stories in the bible are parables (not all of them just some).

I am not a radical Christian (and in some so called christians eyes I am hellbound) but I try to live by the principles in the bible that Jesus taught. And I do honestly believe that there is a God. Who knows I could be wrong, but I dont see any harm in living my life as closely to the morals taught by Jesus.

Why else would someone believe in something that's completely impossible to prove and when there is so much evidence to the contrary of said belief?

Yup. The bible is shitty art, but the originals might be a good read. Unfortunately Constantine had to destroy parts of the bible and the rest was eventually rewritten a bunch of times. I wonder why a ruler wouldn't want other people to read it? As if he was concealing something from them. Or maybe those parts just sucked more.

Im not going to change any of your views on Christianity so I wont try. Ya guy I don't believe that Adam and Eve started the whole human population, or that Jonah lived in the belly of a whale for three days. Some of those stories are parables.

I answered that in the post when you asked why I believe. I'm not close minded. If there was ever a defenite truth I would not deny it, if it was contrary to my current belief. Even chrisianity does not fully answer how everything came to be. Where did God come from? I don't know. When my life here on earth is over, I believe I will find out.
