filter questions

I need to know if the following can be used for filter discs

cut up vacuum cleaner bags
inserts for face masks

any other suggestions?

yes and yes. as long as the material allows for gaseous exchange it can be used. you can use coffee filters if you wish. just be aware that the more efficient it is (on a micron level) the more apt it is to prevent contaminants from getting through. if you have a microscope you can check out various materials for "hole" size. avoid organic materials such as cotton.

Tyvek, which is also readily available, makes a much better choice. It's durable, easy to work with, filters with great efficiency, and it's cheap or even free depending on how you get it.

recently, out of necessity (jars ready to pc and out of tyvek and polyfill), i started using face masks. they seem to be working better than my polifills :smile:
