I watched a documentary on the Klan. They are highly against drug use. If you want to join them you have to be drug free for a certain amount of time. (They will drug test you.) And do a lot of studying about the organizations history.

I've read the entire thread. I'd say it's about 50% people bitching about people who haven't read the thread, 40% people thinking they're clever for catching the faulty analogy to religion, and 10% people (me) pointing out how faulty the analogy is and recommending a better one.

So far, the most valuable 10% of content in this thread has been completely ignored.

I was raised as a christian and was totally entrapped in it for 20 years.

Church 3 times a week.

Memorized over 300 bible verses.

Church camp every summer.

Read the bible about 10 times front to back.



It took me a long time to be comfortable with saying it is total bullshit. I have seen the light!!! I'm 31 as of next week. Been 8 years without Christianity and I gotta say I feel much better.

God Legit, I love how you tell people to read the whole thread but you won't read my goddamned critique of your whole broken fucking premise.

The Ku Klux Klan is a vigilante organization. It was founded specifically to terrorize and often kill black people in the interest of limiting their voting power. They were also founded to intimidate reconstructionist politicians from the north.

The police are just like the KKK: they are an illegitimate law-enforcement organization, operating in violation of the constitution, which terrorizes and marginalizes people in preservation of the status quo.

Religions aren't fucking vigilante organizations. It's more appropriate to understand them as networks of community centers, the schisms of which can reach national proportions. Violence has nothing to do with their creeds, as they exist today, and comes from extremist schools of thought that run totally contrary to the mainstream.
