Yes.  No.  Not really.

I sort of would love to start a band with someone and i was looking for bands last year but i dont want to look to outside people for music and none of my friends seem to want to do it so i kind of said fuck it at this point.  :blazed:

I used to play the violin. I quit about a year ago though. The 'return on investment' was too low: I got very little out of it, but I had to put in a lot of time and practice. Still a shame though; I'd been playing since I was 4, so that's >25 years.

I got full Reason 4 right now and considering upgrading to 5 and adding Record.

Thing about Reason - it dont support VSTs :S

Musician here. I play in a duo, sometimes a band, sometimes solo... we play a few times a week around local bars/etc. It's been my solitary source of income for a few months, and I love it.

I do drink a SHIT ton more alcohol since I started doing it, which I want to stop, but it's hard when people are buying you shots all the time

Torrents are for plugins.  Just gotta have find ones with lots of positive comments.  Gotta buy the software IMO.  Helps that I'm a student though.  I play all saxophones, flute, clarinet, keys, starting up drums, been doing the recording engineer thing for school.. so yeah, I'm a musician   I need to get out and play more.  My goal for this year is to land a gig or two playing some kind of cool new music.  I'm gonna try to fix my laptop and see if I can run Ableton or MaxxMSP on it to add to my horn playing abilities.. that'd be a big help.

Uh.... how do you figure?  I have a torrented version of Cubase, Ableton, and Logic on my computers with no viruses.

Well, I guess I do have a torrented version of Reason 5 too so I'm a hypocrite but when I think audio I think Protools and you're not getting that for free.

I've been making music for over half a decade and been playing musical for 7 years (guitar) and 9 years (keyboard).

I've had a shitload of solo music projects (around 8?) in many different genres over the years (black metal, drone/doom, trip hop, dark ambient, etc.). I eventually came to the conclusion of the sheer retardation and dumbfuckery of individuating my music as they all come from the SAME source: me. So like last year I sort of just liquidated everything into my first music project ever.

It's called Cerulean Transience of All My Imagined Shores. I started it off as some lofi mellow acoustic shit but got bored of that really quickly but about 3 years later I revived it and made it into what I coin "metaphysical ambient". Very astral sounding, psychedelic, dreamscape-y, at times mindfucky but all for entheogenic meditation (for me anyways).

Anywho I only ever started releasing my music for free download last year and so far I have 4 albums up for free download + 1 EP over on my website plus I had a huge thread going that was stickied here in the Pub where I shared my art with the community. Going through my iPod I have 11 albums in total. I currently am and have been for a few months now been working on my next album to release which trumps the rest of my stuff so I'm not too keen on advertising my music until I've released it.

There are few ambient tracks on my past 4 albums but from here-on  (after this next album) all my releases will be exclusively 'metaphysical ambient'. The 4 albums I have up were songs from 3-4 years ago so my sound now is prettttyyyyyy different.

Idk, here you go. 3 of my songs that most closely convey what my sound is:

A Universe, Untouched By Mankind

Ayahuascic Trance (made during my 1st Ayahuasca experience a year ago)

Dimethyltryptamine (Destructive Moments of Transcendence)

And maestroelite, did you ever get a chance to play the sax over the song I sent you??

My violin teacher told me of a phD dissertation she read explaining that learning violin is the single most difficult thing a human being can do (from an objective, non-emotional standpoint).  No reason to quit.

Yeah, it definitely is difficult, and it's also something that simply cannot be done if you start beyond age 12 or so. At least to some level of proficiency. You're right, no reason to quit at all, but I'm a lazy bastard. Plus my ex used to play, and we were in the same orchestra for a time, so the association became less pleasant when we broke up. Plus, I was done with that style of music. I should start playing metal.
