if so did you like it? What did you think of it as a live preformance tool?
I want to use it as a third source, with my turntables.
i realy want to try it but don't have 2k for a new comp. and the software.

i had to bump this thread because I have just found this software and am using it as mainly an improvisational composition tool and it is absolutely amazing, one of the best things I have used in a long time. It has completely changed the direction of the music I was making. Highly Recommended.

it's good for taking songs you already made, bouncing them down to loops and remixing them on the fly.
it's virtually fucking useless without a midi controller tho for live performances (unless you REALLY like clicking on around on your laptop like a maniac).

yeh well I still haven't had to cross the bridge in regards to performing the electronic music I am creating live. I have played in several rock bands as both a frontman and a member of the rhythm section, but I can only imagine it being a weird experience. I have zero experience with turntables, etc. I've been imagining a complex set up with loop pedals, laptops, samplers and synthesizers, but I would hate to wrestle with the logistics involved (ie loading samples, tweaking EQ, etc.) let alone the expense of purchasing these things. As far as ableton is concerned, would it be possible for me to use any midi ready synth as a controller? I don't have much MIDI experience as of right now, most of my music involves the flip flopping of live music sampled and loops, etc., but I do know that my synth can be used for MIDI. What would I need to start working with it and Ableton? Also, what advantages would I gain by working with a MIDI controller vs. Hot Keys and a Mouse?

Yes, midi controllers are the KEY. The larger/more the better.
Me and my wife use ableton live for live performances. But it is also a very good tool for quantization.
