Bill Hicks quote

I posted this in a thread in OTD. I thought i'd post it here for you S&P'ers to check out. Maybe you'll like it, or maybe you'll scroll past. I don't know. Nobody knows.
Bill Hicks on Psilocybin mushrooms.
Quote:
"I laid in a field of green grass for four hours going 'my God, I love everything'.
The heavens parted. God looked down and rained down gifts of forgiveness onto my being, healing me on every level, psychically, physically, emotionally.
And I realized that our true nature is spirit not body, that we are eternal beings that God's love is unconditional. There is nothing that we can ever do to change that.
It is only our illusion that we are separate from God or that we are alone. In fact, the reality is, we are one with God and he loves us.
Now if that isn't a hazard to this country?
How are we going to keep building nuclear weapons?
What's going to happen to the arms industry if we realized that we're all ONE?
HAHAHAHA. It's going to fuck up the economy. The economy that's fake anyway. Which would be a real bummer.
You can see why the government is cracking down on the idea of experiencing unconditional love."

Oneness is a good focusing technique... it helps break down the ego... but oneness is an self-subscribed illusion. Show me show me show me.

Massive amounts of people becoming turned on leads to all kinds of crazy ideas like equality and harmony. When will people wake the fuck up and realize that when you fight each other you are fighting your self? THE POINT THAT MUST BE REACHED IS THE POINT OF NO TURNING BACK. Our collective indecision is disintigrating as we move into a world in which the boundaries of reality are shifting, forcing us into action. This will eventually lead to an ego death of the species which will be symbolized by the physical destruction and chaos that will ensue as our minds grow closer to the beginning (and the end).

I wrote Bill and we exchanged a few documentaries in the early 90's. One of the most extreme left guys I've ever encountered and like a lot of those guys he was a deep and beautiful soul.
God bless him.

"Fundamentalist Christainity - fascinating. These people actually believe that the world is only 12,000 years old. Swear to God. Based on what? I asked them...
Well we looked at all the people in the Bible and we added 'em up all the way back to Adam and Eve, their ages: 12,000 years.
Well how fucking scientific. I didn't know that you'd gone to so much trouble. That's good. You believe the world's 12,000 years old?
That's right.
Okay, I have one word to ask you, just a one-word question, ready?
uh-huh
Dinosaur."
or...
"I'm so sick of arming the world, then sending troops over to destroy the fucking arms, you know what I mean? We keep arming thses little countries then we go and blow the shit out of them. We're like the bullies of the world, y'know? We're like Jack Palance in the movie Shane, throwing the pistol at the sheepherder's feet.
'Pick it up.'
'I don't wanna pick it up, Mister, you'll shoot me."
.....
'Pick up the gun.'
'Mister, I don't want no trouble, I just came downtown here to get some hard rock candy for my kids, some gingham for my wife. I don't even know what gingham is but she goes through about ten rolls a week of that stuff. I ain't looking for no trouble, mister...'
.....
'Pick up the gun.'
(He picks it up. Three shots ring out)
'You all saw him - he had a gun.'"

This one pretty much sums up the whole war in Iraq.

Bill Hicks is the greatest.
I have his Philosophy CD... it's like his best of collection. It has a couple pieces mentioned here before. I can't believe I could laugh so hard so many times at one CD. I loved the part where he said he went to a waffle house in Tennessee and the waittress saw him reading and she said "What ya reading fer?"
Bill: That's a new one. I've been asked "What are you reading?" before but never "What are you reading for?" Well... I read for a lot of things, but one reason is so I don't end up BEING A FUCKING WAFFLE WAITTRESS.
After that, this big trucker guy gets up behind him and says
Trucker Guy: Well well..... looks like we got aweselves a reada!
HAHAHAHAHA.... I laugh so hard at that part every time....

Bill has also said other things about Iraq.
I think that if Bill was alive now, he wouldn't be on either side of the Iraq war issue.

You must be joking. He would be implacably and ferociously opposed to Bush.
As he said about suicide bombers "I love the way we talk about "cowardly suicide bombers" these guys drive cars filled with bombs because that's the only way they can fight back against the (german accent) "New World Order", meanwhile we launch cruise missiles from floating iron islands 200 miles away. Who are the cowards again?"

Well, yeah, but I hardly think he's justifying suicide bombers. It's all disgusting.
