What to do between flushes?
    #1433985 -

My FOAF is a first-time caser (grew PF tek once before) and is now almost through his first flush. He's curious what should be done after the 1st flush is completed in order to help assure future flushes. At this point he has harvested all the mature mushrooms and has done his best to remove all the tiny abhorts. Should the casing layer be scraped off and replaced, and if so should the casing then be put into an incubator until the new casing is colonized?

Tell your friend this worked well for my friend,

like you said, scrape off old layer, replace with new moist PC'd layer. Completly cover so as to not let any light in and prevent any air exchange (foil cover will do fine). Put away for 5-7 days in a warm place. Then initiate pinning as before.

The hippie say to scrape the old casing and aborts. Then soak in water (ziplock frezer bag) for 24 hours, then place it back in your fruiting chamber. Wait three days or so and boom you'll have another great flush.

Or check out the Tek's at the shrommey!!!

There is no point in scraping off a colonized casing layer only to replace it with a new casing layer that the mycelia has to expend time and energy colonizing again.

Just patch the divets with fresh casing material, pop that fucker back into fruiting and lightly mist 5 or 6 times a day until new pins appear.

The only reason for scratching or scraping a casing is to correct a bad case of overlay.
