O.K. This isn't a "How to Question" This is an opinions "What do you do". Mycology should be about exploration, testing, if it didn't work throw it outside in a hole. It wasn't a total loss YOU LEARNED SOMETHING I don't expect answers I expect your opinions........your explorations.
Casings
1. After harvesting what steps do you take to prepare the surface...i.e scrape, pull every little tiny pin.
2. Do you re-case do you patch?
3. Do you fill the pulled away sides?
4. What steps do you use to rehydrate?
5. Do you place directly into the terrarium or do you cover and re-incubate / re-hydrate.
I started out using cakes like all others and moved to double ended casing tek and am now into casing I usually:
1. Scrape the small pins off with a sterile knife.
2 Usualy re-case but am trying different things I usualy case w/ 33/33/33 verm peat poo so there is plenty of nutes and the top layer has usually colonized so 1st Exploration: I scraped and crumbled the whole casing and re-cased so the casing is larger, sprayed with h202&h20 covered and incubate. 2nd Exploration: A different case I scraped the top layer carefully flipped the case deep scrapped and recased the former bottom now top and sprayed covered and incubate.
3 . I mostly will sprinkle some casing mix into theopen areas I have found that if you leave them than mushies will try and grow there, more humid i guess, thus taking away nutes from the top mushies thus smaller size.
4 & 5. I usualy mist alot I mist after i scrape and after i case. I tried dunking 12 hrs but it just seamed way to soggy after almost like mud I figure if i case with really wet material and cover to incubate for 3-5 days it rehydrates it.
All opinions and actions are welcome.

2. Do you re-case do you patch? Patch.
3. Do you fill the pulled away sides? Yes.
4. What steps do you use to rehydrate? Mist.
5. Do you place directly into the terrarium or do you cover and re-incubate / re-hydrate. Directly.
