accidentally burnt peat moss

my friend was pastuerizing peat moss in the microwave and he forgot to add some water....well the plastic container it was in melted and the peat moss and vermiculite mixture fell onto the rotating glass dish on the bottom. heremoved the plastic tray and let the 50/50 mixture sit for awhile to cool. when he later reached in to use it he saw that it was smoking and there were some red embers that looked like they could start a fire. he put it all into another container And poured cold water on it to put out the burning mixture and cool it down. after it had cooled to A good temperature my friend used it for a cAsing layer. the whole room smelled of burning peat moss so it wasnt until after he finished casing all of his jars that he realized the tray he had cased with that batch still reaked of burnt peat moss. it wasn't too hot for the mycellium or anything, but obviously some of the mixture wAs burnt. will this effect the casing? should he not have used this batch of peatmoss/verm? any help is greatly appreciated

as long as the moisture content was right you should be ok

thanks man. the moisture content wasn't one of his concerns so it's all good
