Will Green Moss work as a casing layer as opposed to peat moss?

as the title says. I accidently bought green moss instead of peat moss. Will this work for a 50/50 casing layer?

I'm not entirely sure... I would be worried about it becomming a pile of green muck after sterilization..

How about you try it and let us know? :wink:

it don't hold much water but is real airy,clean,contam proof, i think it would be good shredded up with verm cause in the wild here there is green moss beds and shrooms love them. verm works alone so i say why not try it!

Outside live green moss helps with pin formation by making a good humid place for pin formation. This bed of mine always got early sun and never fruited becuase the top layer would dry up. And this was even after daily misting with my hose. I put a chunk of live moss in the back corner as an experiment and a few weeks later i just got these sun baked malabars,
