mycelium on supermarket shrooms ???

I still haven't ventured into the realm of gourmet mushrooms yet due to money problems but have a simple question regarding chestnut mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus chestnutus ???  :laugh:)

I bought some from the supermarket yesterday and where they've been cut there is now white fluff on them !

I suspect this is just mycelium but since I haven't grown these before and intend on consuming them I thought I'd ask you guys !  :tongue:

Nope, can't clone it cos like I said I'm very short of cash and can't even afford agar at the moment or else I'd have cloned loads of shop bought gourmet shrooms !  :frown:

Yes it's mycelium. Mushrooms are made of mycelium, and in humid conditions it can continue to grow.

Cool, I thought it was mycelium. The mushrooms were stored in a plastic box with seran wrap over them which would explain the humid conditions. I'm visiting my parents for the weekend and they were going to take em back to the shop thinking they were mouldy but I'll tell them not to bother now !
