Oyster mycelium on it's way
    #518279 - 01/12/02 07:19 AM (22 years, 10 months ago)

I'm about to receive some oyster mycelium. I have read every post in this gourmet forum containing oyster in it. It grows on eveything as I have noticed. Even toiletpaper.

I am a bit unsure on how to transfer it onto the toiletpaper though.

I am familiar with rice/verm, rye and straw.

Would it be recommended to spawn some pasteurized straw with this mycelium? If so, I would crumble it into the straw and compact it into a large bag. Or, I would cook some rye, and put a bit of mycelium in there, shake? I have only inoculated rye jars with syringes before. Successfully.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Hi,

Use pasteurized straw. Spawn it with rye. The mycellium of P. ostreatus is very aggressive (even more than the one of P. cubensis). I use transparent new rubbish bags to put the straw + rye. The fruitbodies will grow through the bags, when you put it into fruiting condition: 10 C to 15 C and diffuse light.

If you work clean you should do well. The most problematic thing would be to produce the spawn.

Does the H2O2 cloning tek work for Oyster mushrooms or does the H2O2 destroy the oyster mycelium?
