oyster mycelium??

having just innoculated some grain jars with a wedge each of oyster mycelia, im not sure if they are now fully colonised or fully contaminated. The grain is covered with wispy greyish white stuff that looked like contamination but when i opened a jar there was no bad smell at all and only a slight mushroom smell...is this normal or not??
