Celebrity bashing vs bullying

What is exactly the difference between celebrity bashing, and bullying?

When people will for example spam Justin Bieber his youtube page full of comments like "I hope you die and rot in hell" and pretty much wishing him the worste you can imagine (example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4), how is this not the same, or even worse as bullying? The page is litterally being spammed by insults, each second, non-stop 24/7, as if people have nothing better to do?

I mean, everyone goes "omg bullying is bad" but then at the same time, everyone joins in on celebrity bashing. Sure celebrity bashing is fun, but so is bullying. Why is this generally accepted behavior, but bullying is not? What makes a random person worth more than a celebrity?

i think celebrities create an icon that is bigger than themselves. we are really bullying an image of the person and not the person.

bullying a celebrity is impersonal so we are more willing to do it openly.

i would say a random person isn't worth more...and it's the celebrity's worth that brings out some of the ill feelings.
