I don't care how much you believe it is real. I will NEVER believe it is real because I am not there to witness it, and it is fake. Its just entertainment for survivalist types to feel better about their thinking.

Think what you want.  If you watch he is honest about everything he does.  Im watching one now where hes in the ocean on a raft.  He says right off hes got a safety beacon and a radio link to the boat cause its to dangerous for him not too.

Besides, hes not going out there to die.  Hes showing what to do, when alone, in a survival situation.

I dont even think of it like that.  I just think good entertainment.  I enjoy his level headed thinking, and sometimes funny situations.


And I hunt in very deep and thick woods with no cell phone service. (no compass either because of all the iron in the area) so it MAY be important to me some day.  I just think its more genuine, and all around useful then any other show on the network.

I do not disagree one can glean incredible info that is useful in a situation like he portrays. I just think they film a segment/scene and then he gets to go into a safe place with food/shelter/etc... until the next scene is filmed.:shrug: I am very cynical/skeptical/disbelieving of these shows.

I honestly was too.  For a long time I didnt believe it.  But then sometimes they do give him lifelines, and beacons and such.  I mean, why even do that if hes going to shelter when the cameras arent rolling.  It would just make the show more dangerous if he had nothing, so why show that he gets those survival items sometimes?

IDK, trust me I think every other show is fake, but this one still rings a true bell in my ear.

Sometimes the History channel still has worth-wild programming on.  Watched a show on the Nazi movement in the US between WW1 and WW2. 

It was pretty legit.

History International probably still has the best documentaries on TV. It's all I watch if I do watch TV, mainly because that's the only quality channel I can get on basic cable and half of the time it's commericals anyway. Everything else sucks. It's like rehashed bullshit on every channel. There are about three of those stupid pawn shop shows. I get more entertainment from reading dry textbooks than I do from watching those lame documentaries on the history channel. I remember 10 years ago Discovery and History were the shit! Now it's 90% garbage. Good thing we have the internet!

Should I be embarrassed to admit that I will occasionally enjoy watching man v food? It's stupid but it can be entertaining, especially if it's late at night.

Agreed.  I haven't subjected myself to a single episode of Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars, Deadliest Catch, Man vs Wild, or any of the like.  The only decent one was Survivorman.  Time Warp was pretty badass for the first few episodes, but after that they just turned it into a bunch of people doing stupid shit in slow motion.  "let me cut this cucumber against this man's stomach," next episode: "let me cut this zuccini next to this guy's arm,"  next episode: "let me cut this yellow squash next to this guy's head." :gc:

Dude I fucking hate that guy. I try not to judge on outward appearances but that haircut undermines the last shred of credibility that that stupid bastard could possibly muster up.

All these shitty tv shows now include "the skeptic," aka some guy who wears a polo shirt and looks profoundly bored as the other people assume small ocean ridges to be underwater UFO landing strips. Why even include him? Anyone with a brain can see that objectivity flew out the window as the douchebags walk in unison towards the camera to shitty music in the opening credits.

The ghost hunter shit is the worst. Who the fuck decided that EMP recorders detect ghosts and what bullshit pseudoscience is that based off of? How can you watch that and believe that the door closed by itself? It's a goddamn TV show, it needs ratings like all the others. ITS STAGED. ITS THE WWE WITH SUPERSTITION ADDED.
