Songs that make you cry..........
    #1381617 - 03/16/03 02:46 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

I'm interested in knowing what songs, specifically, make us cry, and why. I'm directing this mainly to the men here, but the women can chime in as well

For me, it's 3 songs, predominantly:

Father and Son, by Cat Stevens

It's not time to make a change
Just relax, take it easy
You're still young, that's your fault
There's so much you have to know
Find a girl, settle down
If you want, you can marry
Look at me, I am old
But I'm happy

I was once like you are now
And I know that it's not easy
To be calm when you've found
Something going on
But take your time, think a lot
I think of everything you've got
For you will still be here tomorrow
But your dreams may not

How can I try to explain
When I do he turns away again
And it's always been the same
Same old story
From the moment I could talk
I was ordered to listen
Now there's a way and I know
That I have to go away
I know I have to go

It's not time to make a change
Just sit down and take it slowly
You're still young that's your fault
There's so much you have to go through
Find a girl, settle down
If you want, you can marry
Look at me, I am old
But I'm happy

All the times that I've cried
Keeping all the things I knew inside
And it's hard, but it's harder
To ignore it
If they were right I'd agree
But it's them they know, not me
Now there's a way and I know
That i have to go away
I know I have to go

I was adopted, a child of divorce, then lost 2 step-fathers to cancer. Now I'm a father. I don't think I need say more.

Can't get it outta my head, by ELO

This song was playing after I hadn't seen my wife and child for 6 months while I was overseas. Some girl was listening to it, crying, I might add. I'd always loved the song.

The Long and Winding Road, by the Beatles

Again. A woman! damned if you do and damned if you don't!

Every time I listen to the Cat Stevens song I sob like a two year old. The song means a lot to me.

Black Muddy River -every time I hear it I think about Jerry's last show and how it was his last song. And if only I knew it would be the last time I would ever hear him sing it.

"Looks Like Rain"

a beautiful, touching song to begin with, with way too much personal connection (anyone who was around last winter probably heard more about this than they deserved or wanted.... sorry bout that....)

ya, right after jerry died, a few local radio stations were airing some fine dead tunes...
"black muddy river" came on & the (ex- now) wife & i both had wet cheeks; almost hard to drive the car when it's raining inside...

On your own - Verve

Tell me what you see
Was it a dream? Was I in it?
Life seemed so obscene until it's over
Who knows?

All I want is someone who can fill the hole
In the life I know
In between life and death when there's nothing left
Do you wanna know?

You come in on your own
And you leave on your own
Forget the lovers you've know
And your friends on your own

Tell me if it's true
That I need you, you are changing
I've seen this road before down on the floor
It is hurting me

All I want is someone who can fill the hole in the life I know
In between life and death when there's nothing left
Do you want to know?

You come in on your own
And you leave on your own
Forget the lovers you've know
And your friends on your own

Lies I've got to get rid of this hole inside

--------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------

When it comes
I'll know, I know
Just take my clothes and leave
And I'll be gone

Well here it is...the only song that ever made me cry...

Wrote A Song For Everyone
Lyrics: (J.C. Fogerty)

Met myself a comin' county welfare line.
I was feelin' strung out, Hung out on the line.
Saw myself a goin', down to war in June.
All I want, All I want is to write myself a tune.

CHORUS:
Wrote A Song For Ev'ryone,
Wrote a song for truth.
Wrote A Song For Ev'ryone
And I couldn't even talk to you.

Got myself arrested, Wound me up in jail.
Richmond 'bout to blow up, Communication failed.
If you see the answer, now's the time to say.
All I want, All I want is to get you down to pray.

CHORUS

CHORUS

Saw the people standin' thousand years in chains.
Somebody said it's diff'rent now, look, it's just the same.
Pharoahs spin the message, round and round the truth.
They could have saved a million people, How can I tell you?

CHORUS
CHORUS
CHORUS

*******

Psychics will lead dogs to your body.

Dubtribe - Holler!
Liz Phair - Various Songs

Dubtribe is a "good cry", not depressing at all, rather exhilarating. Liz Phair just brings back too many memories. Not your average crying songs  .

yeah, beatles "let it be" is great... "Castles Burning" by Neil Young is a good one... there are a couple of other songs that Neil did on his album "after the gold rush" that are pretty sentimental, but i'm not looking at that names right now, and i can seem to recall them... "I believe in you", and i think the other one was "birds"... and definitely other shit by cat stevens (no specifics)... damn that man could write. another one by neil young was "Harley Davidson"

Yeh Neil Young is the shit. After the Goldrush sends shiver's down my spine.
Harvest is the bomb too. The first time I ever got stoned I listened to After the Goldrush. It was my dad's album and his weed. I was a changed man(or boy I should say since I was only 11 or 12) after that. It was an awsome experiance and I learned how well weed and music combine. I felt as if I left my body for awhile as Neil sang softley in the background.

Blind Melon- Soul one
Neil Young - Needle and the Damage Done and Teach your children Well

So if she dies
And if you write of it
Being a writer and shit
Dulling it so you sleep again at night,
Alone or telling it to whores
Their minds are dull
But oh their cunts are in the proper place
You pay them but sometimes they like it too
And feel your wounds more eagerly than they feel you,

99 red ballons made me emotional... until those funky 80's keyboards kicked in.

Temple of the Dog - "Say hello to heaven"
Reminds me of someone very important to me that I lost awhile back...

Please, mother mercy
Take me from this place
And the long winded curses
I keep hearing in my head
Words never listen
And teachers never learn
Now I'm warm from the candle
But I feel too cold to burn
He came from an island
And he died from the street
He hurt so bad like a soul breaking
But he never said nothing to me
So say hello to heaven

New like a baby
Lost like a prayer
The sky was your playground
But the cold ground was your bed
Poor stargazer
She's got no tears in her eyes
Smooth like whisper
She knows that love heals all wounds with time
Now it seems like too much love
Is never enough, you better seek out
Another road 'cause this one has
Ended abrupt, say hello to heaven

I never wanted
To write these words down for you
With the pages of phrases
Of things we'll never do
So I blow out the candle, and
I put you to bed
Since you can't say to me
Now how the dogs broke your bone
There's just one thing left to be said
Say hello to heaven

Chris Cornell really captures the emotion behind this song, or atleast I think so.

This one makes me weep like a little girl...................

Soul Sister by Blue Mountain

She used to be my soul sister
Best friend I ever had
Till my mind got twisted all around

Now shes gone and I miss her
Some nights so bad
And I'm hoping that she'll come back around

First time that I saw her
Was the summer I turned fourteen
Sitting on the hood of a car at a drive-in show

I saw a tear roll down her face
As she gazed up at the screen
And her black hair in the wind began to blow

Shine on soul sister
She's the only bright lite in this town
She's my soul sister
And I'm hopeing that she'll come back around

last time that I saw her
Was though the bottom of a glass
I was struggling to hold my head up off the floor

I called her name not once but twice
But she moved just a little to fast
As she walked out of my life and slammed the door

Shine on soul sister
She's the only bright lite in this town
She's my soul sister
And I'm hopeing that she'll come back around

She used to be my soul sister
Best friend I ever had
Till my mind got twisted all around

Now shes gone and I miss her
Some nights so bad
And I'm hoping that she'll come back around
That she'll come back around

Absolutely correct! I remembered that after I posted. I can remember being about
11 or 12, listening to after the gold rush on one of those cassette players that were the first ones made. The square type that was used for dictation. i wore that tape out into oblivion!
Harvest is a great album too!

H.

What's coming through is alive.
What's holding up is a mirror.
But what's singing songs is a snake
Looking to turn this piss to wine.

They're both totally void of hate,
But killing me just the same.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.
Considerately.

Venomous voice, tempts me,
Drains me, bleeds me,
Leaves me cracked and empty.
Drags me down like some sweet gravity.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,
And considerately killing me.

Without the skin,
Beneath the storm,
Under these tears
The walls came down.

And the snake is drowned and
As I look in his eyes,
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of those times.

I could have cried then.
I should have cried then.

And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I have died
and will die.
It's all right.
I don't mind.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,

And considerately killing me.

Hey, where did we go, days when the rains came
G C G D
Down in the hollow, playin' a new game
G C G D
Laughin' and a-singin' hey-hey, skippin' and a-jumpin
G C G D C D
In the misty morning fog, with our hearts thumpin and you
G Em C D G
My Brown-eyed girl, you my-y brown eyed girl

Hey whatever happened, Tuesday went so slow
Goin down the old mine with a transistor radio
Standin' in the sunlight laughin', hide behind the rainbow's wall
Slippin' and a-slidin', all along the waterfall with you
My brown eyed girl, you my brown eyed girl

Chorus:

Do you remember when we used to sing
C G D
Sha-la-la la-la la-la la-la la-la de-da (x2)
C D G Em C D G D
La-de-da

So hard to find my way, now that I'm all on my own
Saw you just the other day, my how you have grown
Cast my memory back there lord, sometimes I'm overcome, thinkin'bout
Making love in the green grass, behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl, you my brown eyed girl

Hey Jude, don't make it bad

Hey Jude, dont be afraid

You were made to go out and get her

The minute you let her under your skin

Then you begin to make it better

And any time you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain

Don't carry the world upon your shoulder

Hey Jude don't let me down

You have found her, now go and get her

The minute you let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better

So let it out and let it in, Hey Jude, begin

You're looking for someone to get closer

But don't you know that it's just you

Hey Jude, You'll do, the movement you need

Is on your shoulder

Na na na na na, na na na na

Hey Jude, don't make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better..better..better..better

Forgot one, Joe Walsh "Indian Summer"

I was taken by surprise by the thunder
Sit and stared out at the rain
Taken back I was younger
In the vacant lot days

And the fall brought an Indian summer
And plenty of places to play
I can still hear them calling
Far away
I can hear the thunder
Far away

Well the summers are hot
And the winters get cold
Not alot smarter but another year old
Sometimes I'm still at the fishing hole

And you never needed bait where we used to go
Just a safety pin hook on a bamboo pole
Take the big ones home let the little ones go
Far away
I can hear the thunder
Walking down that alley

And its not as easy as it used to be
Finding time to let my mind wander
I can still hear them calling
Indian summer

I feel you on that one, bro.

Pushit does for me too sometimes.

Also, how to dissapear completely by Radiohead.

And sometimes Orestes or Three Libras by APC. And the Smashing Pumpkins cover of landslide and sometimes Meladori Magpie, why, i dont know

I suppose there are lots depending on how vulnerable i feel..

AIC, down in a hole. I know Floyd has done it more than one occasion. Sometimes the climax of Sheep is so amazingly beautiful that i cant help it.

Anything played by Doc Watson. The man is 80, blind, and one of the greatest Bluegrass guitarists alive. Everytime I hear a song by him and hear him sing its just .......... yea

Quote:

This one makes me weep like a little girl...................

Soul Sister by Blue Mountain

Good thing I'm on an unknown substance, or I'd be crying like a baby ripped away from his mothers breast...

God I miss that girl.  who she is now != who she was

Grab love when it's within your reach.  It's like an entity that exists in the networking between people.  You must incubate it properly and care for it very carefully whilst reaping the fruits.  Otherwise you might find that you've just picked all the fruits, and there's no cake left to keep making the fruits.

W0w, hallucinations, cool....  What a body-load!

2C-C???

What I'm saying is that there was love between me and a girl, then all of a sudden there wasn't, and keeping us as close as we had been before, for fear of change, or loss of that feeling of love -- was just causing more pain and trouble.

I miss having sex with love.  That was really nice.  Better than a hug  :frown:

Somebody cry with me  :frown:

w0w am I fux0red, phew...

Alan Parsons Project.
Old and Wise

Lyrics:

As far as my eyes can see
There are Shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to Know
You've always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go

And oh when I'm old and wise
Bitter words mean little to me
Autumn Winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be Lifted from my eyes
Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my Eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You've always Shared my darkest hours
I'll miss you when I go

And oh, when I'm old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like Autumn winds that will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that You were a frined of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I'm Old and wise

Eric Carmen
All by myself

Lyrics:

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And makin' love was just for fun
Those days are gone

Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

All by myself
Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live, all by myself anymore

Hard to be sure
Sometimes I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

Michael Jackson
One day in your life

Lyrics:

One day in your life
you'll remember a place
Someone's touching your face
You'll come back and you'll look around you

One day in your life
You'll remember the love you found here
You'll remember me somehow
Though you don't need me now
I will stay in your heart
And when things fall apart
You'll remember one day...

One day in your life
When you find that you're always waiting
For the love we used to share
Just call my name
And I'll be there

(Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh...)

You'll remember me somehow
Though you don't need me now
I will stay in your heart
And when things fall apart
You'll remember one day...

One day in your life
When you find that you're always longing
for the love we used to share
Just call my name
And I'll be there

(Ohh...)

Sadness loneliness and abuse. Have been a major thing in my life. Thats why i love these songs very much.

Gary Jules - Mad World

Originally a Tears for Fears song I believe
it's also the ending song of Donnie Darko

lyrics for those interested:

all around me are familar faces
worn out places
worn out faces

bright and early for the daily races
going nowhere
going nowhere

their tears are filling up their glasses
no expression no expression

hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
no tomorrow
no tomorrow

and I find it kinda funny
I find kinda sad
the dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
when people run in circles it's a very very
mad world
mad world

children waiting for the day they feel good
happy birhtday
happy birthday

and I feel the way that every child should
sit and listen
sit and listen

went to school and I was very nervose
no one knew me
no one knew me

hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
look right thourgh me
look right through me

and I find it kinda funny
I find kinda sad
the dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
when people run in circles it's a very very
mad world
mad world

enlarge your world

mad world

REM
Automatic for the People (1992)
Everybody Hurts

When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
when you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on.
Don't let yourself go, everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes.

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along.
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
if you feel like letting go, (hold on)
when you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on.

Everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends.
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand.
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
when you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.

Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes.
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. (repeat & fade)
(Everybody hurts. You are not alone.)

And how bout:

Sarah McLachlan -
Angel

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

Those two songs will put a lump in my throat!

Peace,
-TekNut-

Dr. Seusse is Dead by acid bath, A tribute to the most psychedelic book writer in our time.
I lose it every time

dr. seuss is dead
we await life
dr. seuss is dead
a cloud of flies obscure the sun
a stone is dropped the dream undone
ripples grow and ride the tide
the dead things crawl from deep inside
with its dying
sour breath
the burning smell of insect flesh
hungry things in circles crowd
around tv's turned up too loud
we are the dead next door
it's up too loud
where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
it's up too loud
taste the light inject the lord
it's up too loud
I cut myself again because I'm so fuckin' bored
it's too fuckin' loud
we are the dead next door
it's too fuckin' loud
where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
it's too fuckin' loud
taste the light inject the lord
it's too fuckin' loud
I cut myself again because I'm so fuckin' bored
motherfucker
we await life
dr. seuss is dead
the dream is swirling,
I'm alone
where the streets are paved with bone
buildings with a hundred eyes
watch me through the swarming flies
behind shades
pulled down tight
things are growing without light
hungry things in circles crowd
around tv's turned up too loud
we are the dead next door
it's up too loud
where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
it's up too loud
taste the light inject the lord
it's up too loud
I cut myself again because I'm so fuckin' bored
it's too fuckin' loud
we are the dead next door
it's too fuckin' loud
where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
it's too fuckin' loud
taste the light inject the lord
it's too fuckin' loud
I cut myself again because I'm so fuckin' bored
motherfucker
the dream sea has been poisoned
the stop light flashes me red
motherfucker
innocence suffocated in its sleep
dr. seuss is dead
motherfucker
the dream sea has been poisoned
the stop light flashes me red
motherfucker
innocence suffocated in its sleep
dr. seuss is dead
dead
dead
dead
dead
dead
dead
he's fuckin' dead

mad world by gary jules
alone by ben harper

there are some more, but other people have already listed them so i wont bother

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

One of the saddest songs I ever heard.  I don't listen to GNR much any more but I'll always love this song.

Guns N' Roses -- "Estranged"

When you're talkin to yourself
And nobody's home
You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone
(Alone)

So nobody ever told you baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see

Old at heart but I'm only 28
And I'm much too young
To let love break my heart
Young at heart but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart

I don't know how you're s'posed
To find me lately
And what more could you ask from me
How could you say that I never needed you
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me

Young at heart and it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart but I musn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out

Still talkin' to myself
and nobody's home
(Alone)

So nobody ever told us baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see

When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
And now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
And you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for

Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own, and drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything We've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die

I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it thru, this time- Oh this time
Without you

I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die

:frown:

I got a few. Looks Like Rain by the all mighty GD. Is the ixing on the cake though. I guess I will look up the lyrics for yall. Maybe yall wil just cry reading it. I probably wont cry now because things are all said and done but yull probably get where I am coming from once you read the lyrics. Just reading it isnt enough though for me I got to hear Bobby singing for it to do its magik.

I woke today, and felt your side of bed
The covers were still warm where you'd been layin'
You were gone: my heart was filled with dread
You might not be sleeping here again
It's all right, 'cause I love you; and that's not gonna change
Run me round, make me hurt again and again
But I'll still sing you love songs, written in the letters of your name
And brave the storm to come, for it surely looks like rain

Did you ever listen to the sound of street cats making love
And guess from their cries you were listening to a fight
Well you know, hate's just the last thing they're thinking of
They're only trying to make it through the night

I only want to hold, I don't want to tie you down
Or fence you in the lines I might have drawn
It's just that I have gotten used to having you around
My landscape would be empty if you were gone

ah sigh sweet memories.

wasted blue's-Beck
My Friends-RHCP
My friends are so depressed
I feel the question
Of your loneliness
Confide..., 'cause I'll be on your side
You know I will, you know I will

X Girlfriend called me up
Alone and desperate
On the prison phone
They want... to give her 7 years
For being sad

I love all of you
Hurt by the cold
So hard and lonely too
When you don't know yourself

My friends are so distressed
And standing on
The brink of emptiness
No words... I know of to express
This emptiness

Imagine me taught by tragedy
Release is peace
I heard a little girl
And what she said
Was something beautiful
To give... your love
No matter what

Toploader - Only for a while

Once upon a time a child heard a line
That moved him
The child never grew the line it came true
And all around
Inside dreams it stays
Dormant through these days
That follow
Reminded only by the saddest lullaby
That was whispered

You've got to lie down for a while
This will pass its only mild
You've got to ease your mind
For a while

I know ill never be able to be free
From these memories
Have love in life the same
Embrace it every day
That it comes to you

You've got to lie down for a while
This will pass its only mild
You've got to ease your mind
You've got to ease your mind for a while
Lie down for a while
This will pass its only mild
You've got to ease your mind for a while
Only for a while
Only for a while
Only for a while

Sarah MacLaughlan - Angel also makes me cry..reminds me when my grandmother was close to dying and i was thinking of the song in my head...it was the first time i told her i loved her too

I've never actually cried from listening to a song, but these are a few I like to hear whilst on a bender of angst....

Any Jeff Buckley, but most notably:
Forget Her
Lover, You Should've Come Over
What Will YOu Say (Ive seen already mentioned, but it deserves a second call)

CSNY:
Helplessly Hoping

Ryan Adams:
When your young (you get sad)

Tons of Bob Dylan:
You're a big girl now
Dont think twice, its alright
ect......

Townes Van Sandt:
Dead Flowers

Cat Power:
Good Woman
I FOund A reason

Coldplay:
The Scientist

Nick Drake
Niel Young
Velvet Underground.....
the list could go on and on   :crying:

The closest would have to be "Mad World" by Tears For Fears. Strictly due to Donnie Darko, that ending hit me like a ton of bricks. The song just fit so perfectly and I could really feel what he was saying. On that note someone might want to start a "movie that made you cry" thread, just a thought. Oh ya, and "Olive Me" and "Starry, Starry Night" by NOFX, I think there both covers but both very good and heartfelt.

I remember hearing this song (particularly the chorus) and immediately breaking down in tears..

Limp Bizkit
Rollin'

Alright, partner
Keep on rollin' baby
You know what time it is

Chocolate Starfish
Gonna keep on rollin' baby

Who's in, now who's out
Hands up, now hands down
Back up, back up
Tell me what you gonna do now
Breathe in, now breathe out
Hands up, now hands down
Back up, back up
Tell me what you gonna do now
Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'
Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'
Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'
Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'

Now I know ya'll be lovin' this sh*t right here
L. I. M. P. Bizkit is right here
People in the house put them hands in the air
'Cause if you don't care, then we don't care
1.. 2.. 3.. times 2 to the 6
Jonesin' for your fix 'cause the Limp Bizkit mix
So where the f*ck you at?
Punk shut the f*ck up
And back the f*ck up
Before we f*ck this track up

etc etc

Tears of laughter of course! muah

1.. 2.. 3.. times 2 to the 6
Jonesin' for your fix 'cause the Limp Bizkit mix

Pure Lyrical genius.. reminds me of rocky's poem in one of the rocky movies. Shoe, Poo, Loo, Moo.. etc. etc.

Alice in Chains - Nutshell

We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight
And yet I fight
This battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home

Oooh...Oooh...
Oooh...Oooh...

My gift of self is raped
My privacy is raked
And yet I find
And yet I find
Repeating in my head
If I can't be my own
I'd feel better dead

Oooh...Oooh...
Oooh...Oooh...

And the lyrics aren't half of it.  Layne's delivery and the haunting music.......... :crying:

Hayden - My Parents House (thanks to Toad)
Time, time
when you stayed over
We stayed in bed forever
The mail piled at the door
Time, time we lost track of the hours
Pizza boxes towered
On the floor beside the bed
Time, our bodies sore from something
Surely wasn't walking
Our friends thought we were dead
And I can't recreate those times we used to have
Without you they'll be bad
Let's meet next month at my parent's house
they'll be away like they were then
Away like they were then
Time, you met someone new
Someone who likes you
Not like I like you
Time, you ask him if he'll mind
Of course he'll surely mind
So just leave him for me
Will you meet me and try to set things right
I want things to be right
And I bet we'll stay in bed for days and never leave
And never want to leave
And never have to leave

Love Harvest Moon. Especially: Old man take a look at my life I'm alot like you were.

Also: Happiness! is a warm gun yeah. Beatles.

The song on the very end of a Stone Temple Pilots album (can't remember which) 12 Gracious Melodies. Alot of people miss that one cause it's played several minutes after the last song ends. Don't know why that makes me sad?

The only song that ever made me cry was aesop rocks 1 of 4. He made it for the friends who saved his life when he was suicidal.

"My name is Ian Mathias Bavitz
I was born in 1-9-7-6, at Biosfet hospital, located in Long Island, NY
I am 6 foot, for I weigh 2-0-0 pounds
I have brown hair and green eyes
I enjoy writing songs, painting, movies and diner food
I have two brothers, Chris and Graham
and two parents, Paul and Jameija
In august of 2-0-0-1 I went crazy..

This was originally not for public consumption
This was made for four people... four people that literally saved my life
They know who they are..
And ahhh I mean I could live to be a thousand years old and never re-pay them
I don't think this song would pay for them
But hopefully by putting it out, push the bank a little further..

This ain't a burner for the whips (no it isn't)
This ain't even Aesop Rock fly earthworm demeanor (no it isn't)
My name is Ian Mathias Bavitz and I was born in Long Island, New York
Seventy Six, before Graham and after Chris... OK
In August of 2001 my seemingly splinter-proof brain bone, scaffling imploded
I kept it on the hush, but nearly tumbling
to the cold hard concrete on near bodega trips
for ciggaretes and soda, shook me to kasper
Dizzy with a nothern chaser, motor sensory eraser
Gorophobe tunnel vision, guilt, self loathing arrangements
Rose rapidly outta fog I'd never fished in
that abates three separate foreign men's
While I seems to hook lines and syncro simple fishing
Simple primitive self taught, easing of soul, mind and body
but the symptoms rejected my cave-man modus operandi
So now it's one fish belly up, through medicated mol edge
Shrinks that get 250 an hour for awkward silence
And, I'd be lying if I said all of this
made even the slightest fragment of sense to me
That's frail... Simply put
I don't know what happened, or what's stillhappening
I literally feel like I'm teetering on the blunt edge of my sanity
JAMIE, I killed the robots and I'm sorry
Broke down in front of you, embarrassed
but you lent a heart and hand that only you could
you're one of my best friends and yes I'd take that bullet for you
That's my word, which is about all I have left
TONY, I know you know you crazy, 'cause you told me
but that did never bother you, I hold you as my brother 'til death
And I got your back if ever the drunk goblin step
for makin' a cat laugh, when I was walking with the dead
KATHERINE, mother figure, older sister, concerned be a limits
Letting me know I wasn't the only one with this
Continuous offers for vacation, Chicago visits
Talked me to repair of a head full of broken pistons
RIYAH, for the late night movie rentals and the company I needed
An' you knew it, but I just wouldn't admit it
You listened to me brag about my issues for hours
Offer incredible advice, gave me a hug when I was finished
Am I a jack of all trades? Nope... I like to write songs tho'
Are they good? I dunno..
But I could tell you that I only write shit down when I believe it
So take this how you want, but know I mean it
I want you all to know that I'm scared
Now my fuckin' crooked soul never faced a monster like the last few months
Never in my whole life... I wish I could explain this better (I can't)
But the pieces won't formulate it to anything even close to cohesive
So I guess this is my feeble way to thank you
Four soldiers that extended something sacred off the purity of kindness
I owe you all my life and please don't argue with that statement
'Cause without y'all I may not have a life to offer, take it

Thank you
I wish I could explain this better. (Thank you)
I'm sorry for burdening your pleasures. (Thank you)
I love you all with all that's left of me. (Thank you)
For helping try to kill what made a mess of me. (Thank you)
Somehow, someway. (Thank you)
I'ma get you back someday. (Thank you)
Just gotta figure this all out... So..

I guess it is kind of funny when you look headed from a step back
How one man can literally buckle under the same pressures
Other men operate normally under
I have soaked this out from all angles, walking through time
I have been over everything in my head, still I can't think anymore
But I guess some times, when you can't breathe, there are people there
to breathe for you
I am lucky enough to have those people around me
Thank you for helping me to not die
Thank you for helping me to not die

Pocket full of pennies, and a soul gone tilt
Cockpit full of memories and a dream full of guilt"

Phish - Waste

Jack Johnson - Coccoon

"based on your smile
im betting all of this might be over soon
but youre bound to win
because if im betting against you, i think id rather lose

but this is all that i have, so please
take whats left of this heart, and use
please use only what you really need
you know i only have so little, so please
mend your broken heart and leave

i know its not your style
and i can tell by the way that you move its real real soon
but im on your side
and i dont want to be your regret, id rather be your cocoon

but this is all that you have, so please
let me take whats left of your heart, and i will use
i swear ill use only what i need
i know you only have so little, so please
let me mend my broken heart

you said this was all you have
and its all i need
but blah blah blah
because it fell apart
i guess its all you knew
and all i had
but now we have
only confused hearts
i guess all we have
is really all we need

so please
lets take these broken hearts, and use
lets use only what we really need
you know we only have so little, so please
take these broken hearts and leave"

Too many songs to list...

Probably the first ones that comes to mind are

"Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman

Addagio for Strings (theme for Platton, Elephant Man, and Crash)

Tool songs: H, Jimmy, Parabol/Parabola, Reflection, Flood, 4 Degrees, etc. etc. etc.

Weezer's Say it Aint so and a lot on Pinkerton

Cannibal Corpse's "Entrails Ripped from a Virgin's Cunt"

and many, many, more

As soon as I read the title of this thready, one song came to mind in particular. I'll save it for last. Here's a couple others.

Immortal Technique - Dancin with the Devil

Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm

The Mars Volta - Televators

Almost any DJ Tiesto set can bring me to tears at some point

And the one that I can't listen to without actually crying:

Across Five Aprils - A Year From Now

Complete and total adoration,
My gift to you, my heart was yours.
In ten weeks you shaped it,
In one night you murdered it.
Torn from my chest and laid at your feet,
That first step that you took was the worst.
Since then you've walked a thousand miles in silence and short remark,
And I still have these memories,
But we'll never see what we could have been.
Remember when we talked about where we'd be a year from now?
Remember when you held my hand like you'd never let it go?
Remember. cause that's all you can do.
We'll never make another memory,
We'll never make another memory.
I wish I'd have died in your arms the last time we were together,
So I wouldn't have to wake without you today.
This time I thought things were real.
You said they were.
What happened?
You were a priority,
Was I an option?
I let you see a side of me that I don't share with anyone.
Promises are just words unless they are fulfilled.
you knew from the beginning all I had to offer you was my heart,
I'm sorry that wasn't enough.
So, we'll go our own ways,
And hopefully you'll remember the things I've told you,
Hopefully you'll understand that everything I said was in sincerity.
A broken heart is not what I wanted from this,
But I guess I've learned from it.
But aren't you supposed to learn from your mistakes?
I don't consider this a mistake,
I just wish the story didn't end this way,
Cause I'm still in love with the person who helped me write it.
Remember when you held my hand like you'd never let it go?
Remember when we talked about where we'd be a year from now?

Anybody who reads this, please download that song, listen to it, and tell me you didn't cry..

Most of Modest Mouse's first three album's get to me.

Radiohead's "How to Dissapear Completely"

Sufjan's "Tallest Man"

I don't think there are any songs that make me flat out cry, but 2 that really tug at my heartstrings are:

"A Wash" by Safety Scissors

and

"Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds

Beautiful songs.

i've cried to a whole lotta songs i have to say... but only these two i remember as one's i can NOT listen to without shedding a couple of tears (ever since i was a small boy)

"famouse blue rain coat" by leonard cohen

Its four in the morning, the end of december
Im writing you now just to see if youre better
New york is cold, but I like where Im living
Theres music on clinton street all through the evening.

I hear that youre building your little house deep in the desert
Youre living for nothing now, I hope youre keeping some kind of record.

Yes, and jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?

Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older
Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder
Youd been to the station to meet every train
And you came home without lili marlene

And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobodys wife.

Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth
One more thin gypsy thief
Well I see janes awake --

She sends her regards.
And what can I tell you my brother, my killer
What can I possibly say?
I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you
Im glad you stood in my way.

If you ever come by here, for jane or for me
Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free.

Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried.

And jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear

-- sincerely, l. cohen

and Sinead O'connor "Nothing Compares To You" (watching her cry on the video simply imprinted that reaction on me :smirk:)

don mcklean's "vincent" is also one i always feel like crying to...

a lot of songs man.

i have a reggae station here, and they play a lot of good vibe music about happiness, and i get kinda teary hearing and thinking how nice it would be for peace for all mankind, and unification, and constant happiness, and closeness to God.

a few of them lately i cant relate to, but make me teary. like ones about destruction of land, and culture.

John Paul White – Hate the Way You Love Me Lyrics

Well I hate the way you see me
Like a man that can't be fixed
Like a fool fooling all but you
Who he really is
And I hate the way you hold me
Nervous as a cat
Like I might get the big idea
You'd forgive me just like that
I wouldn't have it any other way
Heaven knows a sinner needs a saint
Oh but when I've been at my most ugly
I hate the way you love me
You're a hard woman to live with
I could never fill those shoes
An example for our children
I could never live up to
And I hate myself for staying
Where I should and should not be
With someone I know I don't deserve
And doesn't deserve me
I wouldn't have it any other way
Heaven knows a sinner needs a saint
Oh but when I've been at my most ugly
I hate the way you love me
I wouldn't have it any other way
Heaven knows a sinner needs a saint
And I love you're everything I ain't
Yes I hate the way you love me

This song get's me because i've found my soul mate but it hasn't been a perfect fantasy but as the song states i wouldn't have it any other way.
these are tears of happiness.
