Last pictures, as she goes to harvest: and veils just starting to break.

they tend to bulk up for a few hours after this, so i'll pick in about 4-6 hours.  i'll pick everything from the surface, and apply a thin casing layer of verm/coir. these are my first ever 'bulk' fruits!  :cool: dunno the strain.  :tongue:

i thought so too.
after i picked this lot, i noticed green on the tips of the straw round the edges. learned my lesson there, next time i'll tuck the srtaw in round the edges, so there's no frayed bits.

still, i'll count my first straw outing a success  :grin: and get ready with my scales, as the crop dries in the desiccator (! sp. corrected). i'm chucking the rotten corpse out in the local park. who knows, i might wander by this way ten years from now!

Old post I know. But, I thought overlay like that was bad for a casing, but this one turned out nicely. Am I correct, observing no casing layer in these pics?

hey billy  :laugh: where'd you find this old thing?

no casing layer, so you want it to go all white and snowy like that. overlay can only occur on a casing layer, never in jars (as i sometimes read  :lol:) or on uncased bulk.
