That's not true at all.  The smell comes from your skin shedding cells and those cells building up in between your lobe and the jewelry.  The dead skin cells are a breeding ground for bacteria and that's the smell you get.  IME, creams, lotions, etc. also leave residues behind that increase the odor.  A tiny tiny tiny bit of unscented/unmedicated Lubriderm on each lobe after I shower is all I do and I haven't had odor, ever.  Hard, inorganic materials, such as stainless steel and acrylic, tend to increase ear cheese and therefore odor which is why I never wear them.  Kaos Softwear all the way!

Well everyone has a different method.
U use that cream u said,i use Bepanthéne after the shower.And it works for me. :shrug:  Also much less smell since i left the steal.
  And everyone here (where i am at) is changing for non steal jewelry for years now,cuz we notice the smell decreases...But you say the opposite.I dono,its like arguing wich colour is the best....No point on doing it.
Anyway,as long as it works out for everyone,and we're happy with our stretches,

Also putting a layer of Teflon tape on your tunnels/plugs avoids that your skin is in direct contact with the steal(Nickel), and decreases the smell

I've never had a problem with steel causing smell; but acrylic and teflon both cause a smell.

IME, pretty much any hard, inorganic material like acrylic or stainless is going to cause more ear cheese and odor.  I stick with silicone, it's better in every way.  From what I hear, organics are the best, like those wood and stone ones.  Doesn't mean you shouldn't wash your lobes every shower and sleep without jewelry.

when i was with 10mm in both ears,some friends brought me from Indonesia some beautiful wood plugs.
Little did i know the trouble it would get me into.

After a week i had a big rash expanding from my right ear into my neck.Didnt know why.
Never thought it would be the plugs,cuz the left one didnt give me any problem...:shrug:

Talked to my boss and showed him and imediatly he said it was the plug,for me to take them out.(By this time i could barely sleep and it hurt beside itching)
He told me the same thing had hapened to his wife with some wooden plugs too.

Had to put an 8mm on the right ear,cuz as soon as i took the new one out my ear was like blown and bigger.
I got ok after a while,but since than this right side is always harder to stretch...

PS-Def agree that the best material i've ever tried is silicone.In every way :thumbup:

I was always told in high school i should get plugs because my ears are kinda big.

..but then i would have had even bigger ears.:cuckoo:

I'm so glad i wasn't a fucking sheep in high school.

silicone is only good for healed ears, not fresh stretches.
It always irritates my right ear for some reason though if i keep em in for too long, otherwise very comfortable.

Yeah u cant put them right away.But when u do is the best.
I think everyone has an ear more problematic than the other...i dono why.
How much strectch do you have in milimeters?I have 18mm since long ago... dont think im going further more...
