Gauging your ears

So I went from a 12 to a 10 gauge, just did it with a little force and some A+D ointment. Question:

I've heard of a blowout occuring and resulting in scar tissue. I can see on the back of my earlobes a small ring of skin that's lighter in color, like, less pink/red than my earlobe.

Is that a bad thing, or will it heal?

That little ring is the result of the stretch, and it will go away with time. Don't stretch any more for a few days, and try to dry it out with alcohol.

I once stretched from a zero gauge to 7/16", and the amount of displaced skin was rather severe, and it was immensely painful. However, with some care, it went away after a little while.

yeah thats smart. i was a dumbass about gauging mine. i had a friend peirce my ears and the longest i waited between sizes was a week once. I went to a 00 (well once half inch but i took it out that day cause i looked stupid, i have small ears). the whole time i looked kind of goofy, but no one noticed unless i pointed it out. my holes were slightly crooked. and because of that my right one closes up much faster than the left. i took them out a while ago and its still goofy. i fully regret gauging them and how i went about it. but at the same time i still think about going back to 0s.

hmm.

Dont dry it out with alcohol - that is bad advice.

if you can take out and replace your jewlery with ease, id suggest you take it out and massage your earlobe with vitamin E. Soaking it in a cup of hot salt water mixture/saline either in a cup or on a cotton ball will help healing tremendously.

Its good to wait 6 weeks or more between stretches for future reference (i know its hard.)

how big are you going?
