My mom claims it's amazing, and I remember her saying she was skeptical to try it at first, but I've never had any personal experience. If you'd like, I can e-mail her for more information.

Ive heard nothing but Good things about it.....
"What is Ear Coning? Ear coning is a safe, simple home remedy for gently removing excess wax and toxins from inside the ears. Long, tapered cones are inserted into the ears and lit. The herbal smoke generated works to draw debris out of the ear by osmosis. The entire process is relaxing and noninvasive"

OMG, total scam. I used to work at a bodywork clinic, and the owner did ear candling. What a crock of shit. You get the same results if you just light it, you don't even have to put it in your ear. Plus you can easily get burnt if the "candler" doesn't have proper training. Don't waste your time. Just get one of those swimmer's ear ear cleaning kits from the grocery store.

Dude. The best ear cleaniing method is a few drops of Hydrogen Peroxide. Let is sit in there for 5-20 minutes (the longer, the better). Then just shake it out onto napkin. It's quite efficient and kinda fun hearing it sizzle.

It's complete bollocks.
The best way to get rid of earwax is to pour half a teaspoon of olive oil in the ear. It gets warmed by your body heat and makes the earwax melt.

It works like a charm every time.
My wifes girlfriend swears that urine is the best thing that you can use on your ears. I asked her once (when my ear was clogged) if she would piss on me. It got a good laugh, but she didn't say no either.

From a medical standpoint earwaxing is horse shit. The ear canal is tiny and there is no way the shit you see at the bottom of the cone is from your ear. The cones are made of bees wax and it just collects at the bottom of the cone leading the user to believe it came out of the ear.
If someone fucks up and burns your ear drum then you are FUCKED for life.
Not worth the risk.

Yah, best bet is to buy some ear cleaning shit from the store. Use that, clean it out, then drop some h202 in your ear to help harden the wax a bit, and then use one of those bulbs with warm water to flush out the rest.
Due to my sinus problems i have a bunch of problems with my ears. I have to do this shit every month, i asked my physician about the ear candles and he just laughed at me

Is this really safe?
I do this sometimes when I have a hellified blockage in my ear (usually induced by the use of the dreaded q-tip). It seems like it might be effecting my hearing. Of course this could just be the earwax. What a vicious cycle.
You've been doing this with regularity for some years and never had anything bad come of it?
OH, and so as not to derail the thread... if you're going to buy an ear candle, get the bayberry scent. Very relaxing.

The method was taught to me by an RN about 31 years ago. It's absolutely safe and VERY effective, as you know.
Yeah, I do it before I trip so I can hear the music even better... Whether my ears need it or not.
