Science/Physics fields that DON'T involve much math..?

This might be a stupid question, but I really don't know much about professions to do with Science/Physics, though I'm interested in it, so I figured I'd just ask.. :shrug:

There are plenty, but it depends specifically on what you do.  For example, you could study pharmacology with very little math.  However, the opposite is always true, it just depends on what you do.

i use to suck at math and i just self studie an hour or two a day i still suck

Science can be thought of as the application of math, but the two are very different in the way they come to their conclusions. Math uses deductive logic whereas science uses the mathematical tools of statistics for inductive logic. This is a somewhat nuanced distinction, and most people don't really understand why this difference is so important but it is.

Statistics is actually more science than it is math. Mathematicians have made very sophisticated theorems about describing sets of data using statistics, but making conclusions using statistics is purely inferential and in no way offers PROOF in the way that mathematics does.

and to answer the OP's question. You might be able to get a scientific job that doesn't really use a lot of math, but you'll have to study butt loads of statistics in order to get your degree, regardless of the field.

Depending on the program, a lot of them might require the Calculus sequence through II, and Calculus based Physics (for science majors).


Biology and Medical fields are probably gonna be less math overall, when you get there. But you may not be able to avoid these kind of prerequisites, on the road there.

Well, I haven't seen much of these fields in practice.. But it seems like it mostly consists of getting a good idea, and then going on to try to explain the idea with math and equations for like 9/10ths of the work involved..

I want it to be more idea, problem solving, logic, etc. Rather than a shitload of math..

Well basically, I'm looking for a profession to do with the way things work (preferrably natural things/the world/etc.)

I just don't want most of my job to consist of math.. Rather than ideas/expirements/thinking

Pretty much OP, if you're going into an actual science field...theres gonna be math. If not on the way there, and forever more thereafter - then at least on the way there, and then some (however little).

Wildlife biology? Almost every college that I know of is going to have at least Algebra, an Trig no matter what you go for. It's just stupid.. Some fields rely heavily on math, others shouldn't require a deep understanding, just a basic knowledge. I'm in the electronic repair/calibration field, and studied a shitload of math, but haven't had to use it really since I graduated.  :shakefist:
