hunting deer w/ a knife

the recent african tribal hunting thread got me to thinkin'.. i think itd be pretty cool to experiencin' hunting.. but i think usin a bow/arrow on a d efenseless deer is kinda cowardly.

is it legal to chase after deer w/ a knife? like is there some sort of permit for that

Chasing after a deer with a knife sounds extremely cowardly to me.
Go strangle yourself a deer with your bare hands and then report back here. I'm sure you don't need a permit for that. And if you do you can just say it was self defense.

Pretty sure they'd startle and run as soon as they heard a sound. Ninjas would have trouble sneaking up on them I'd say.

I'd like to see someone take that down with only a knife.

Seems to me it would be far more cruel to kill a deer slowly with only a knife rather than the quick death of a bow/bullet :shrug:

I thought of this years ago. I figure, any idiot can point a metal stick at an animal and pull another piece of metal. But it takes a real fucking man to jump out of a tree and give a deer 47 stab wounds...or a stupid jogger

You wouldnt be able to get close enough to a deer to kill it with a knife. A rifle or bow/arrow is about the most humane way you can do it.

Those fuckers run fast. And hell, they even swim fast. Don't ask me how I know that.

Deer can be vicious when defending themselves. My uncle was mauled by a deer he was hunting back in the early 90's. Fractured his skull, arm and broke a few ribs.

My cousin finally brought it down with a .44 revolver he kept as a backup. If not, that deer probably would have pummeled my uncle to death.

No video of it, but from the sound of it, the attack was pretty fucking brutal.

my wife's uncle was telling me once that he and his cousin came upon a lot of deer on the side of the road, so his cousin told him to get his knife ready. He then swerved to hit a deer, the uncle jumped out and slit its throat with his pocket knife and threw the body in the back of the truck :lol:
