Psilocybe zapotecorum Pictures - Pinning Stage (Agony)
    #13494934 -

Original sporeprint from Alan Rockefeller. (Thanks Alan!)
Inoculated some MEA petris, visible germination in 5 days.
Nice healthy and clean mycelium, did not need to be transferred.
Inoculated sterilized organic rye berries with agar wedge.
Colonized the quart of grains in about two weeks.
Made up about two quarts of substrate in a filter patch bag.
The substrate mix was the following:
Straw/horse manure/alder sawdust/vermiculite/gypsum (40/30/15/10/5).
Sterilized for 2.5hrs @15psi.
Inoculated with the quart of rye spawn.
Fully colonized in 23 days.
Cut the top of the bag away, and cased with a pasteurized thin 50/50+ casing layer.
Put in fruiting conditions immediately (greenhouse).
First pins appeared 50(!!!) days after casing. (Tell me about patience...)
As expected these mature painfully slow.
I just hope they won't abort on me...
Fruiting temeratures are 70-73F. Humidity is between 95-100%.
As Workman suggested the casing layer has been kept exceptionally wet throughout the whole
fruiting period.
Here's the pictures:

9/23/10 Fully colonized substrate. Bag cut away, and cased.

11/9/10 First pins dicovered.

11/11/10 Many more pins!

11/15/10 These are the slowest ever...

11/18/10 Update. I said it's slow didn't I ?!

Will update with progress (if any)...

Automated greenhouse. Extra misting on this one though.
This particular species benefit from a very wet casing since their
natural habitat is muddy soil, some fruits even found partially submerged in water.
As for potency IIRC someone mentioned that about the same as Psilocybe cyanescens.

Not maturing, so I put it as a failure.
There are more pins appearing, but have not much hope.
Good thing is that I have another colonized block and
two quarts of colonized rye and RGS.
So many options:super:
