More constructively, there are many guides on collecting for your region, search around the mushroom hunting forum. You live in a very fruitful area.

I can't help but wonder if there's more to asking in this forum intense questions about scoring.

And the thing about experts is that they're experts on FA.  Look around the cultivation forum

I suppose so; thing is, I simply don't know anyone personally that deals with all this, and therein lies the problem.  What would be the right sub forum, though?  You can call me an idiot, but I'm kinda stuck, as is.

It's just that an internet forum isn't the place to meet people for something like that unless you have a ton of posts cause people will often be very suspicious. Technically there's a meetup forum, but you can't view it yet because you don't have enough posts. Which I guess is further evidence that it probably isn't a good idea to ask for meetups as a newcomer.
