The oncoming war, Tibet, and the past.
    #1357134 - 03/08/03 01:19 AM (15 years, 3 months ago)

I was watching the Discovery channel not long ago when they were showing about Tibet in the past and what beautiful culture they had. They believed in life to be all so temporary. The monks designed amazing artwork out of colored sand and then when it was complete they sweep it up. Eventually the chinese came over and tortured them until they were all dead.

The first thing i'm wondering is why in the past was there so much war and to me in this day in age less war and more peace protests. Did something change in the minds of the humans across this world? Or is it that we have populated so much that we have thousands upon thousands of standing armies and nuclear weapons that the larger countries are afraid to attack? Maybe there were rulers that were just out for blood in the first place that scrambled into leadership of large countries.

What do you think?

I think when this world finally comes together we will be colonizing space. Together as humans of this world. Did i mention i love scifi?

Just some thoughts,

It seems that less war and more peace is certainly the civilized way to go?

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Well I was confused as to what he was asking.... He had said this:

"The first thing i'm wondering is why in the past was there so much war and to me in this day in age less war and more peace protests."

I was wary of this question because it seems highly reasonable that war and struggle would slowly give way to peace and unity  but since he had asked why, it seemed like maybe this question was going way over my head or something, so I posed my answer as a question, implying self-doubt

lol yeah... sadly our "civilization" has many flaws.. and i think i see your self doubt strumpling  .
--------------
human progression can be debated... i mean how much smarter are people, really? weve learned how to make more shit and consume more time and our planet. are you asking if humans more intuitive? or are they simply just better trained super monkeys than the monkeys in the dark ages?like todays humans...they just have more shit to do like go to the movies, get their car washed, get on the internet. i dont see too much advancement as far as human behavior is concerned or an actual CHANGE at all.  but this can go in so many directions... well see how smart the human race has really gotten in the next few months... see if we blow our selves up completely or simply pass by and learn from our lack of diplomacy.

----
and as far as looking at human behavior and the reaction to society of the times

well cause back then i think people either

A) would have gotten killed for rising up

B) didnt have their own views due to lack of adequate knowledge of their own world

C) they didnt protest...they actually got off their ass and tried to do something about the world going on around them. so they made more wars... killed more people etc.
