A quick update..

Heres both sides of the WBS jar after 45 days of colonizing.




Back in January I placed a few drops of the spore culture from the original syringes onto two PDA dishes. They've been growing in the fridge ever since.




Tray #1 is still going but not a significant change from the last photo.

No actually the opposite, the incubator.

I'm going on the theory that the mycelium does it's colonizing in the warmer temps and fruits in the cooler.

The last jar colonized well in the incubator then was placed in the fridge just for storage as I ran out of time to do anything with it.

The petries started out in the incubator for a few weeks and then where placed in the fridge as well but the growth has since tripled. They've been in the fridge for around 7 months.

I bet that the ground temp around here during summer doesn't get much above 50-55, just a guess though.

Good point but in some areas where they grow they're in open fields in full all day sun. I would think the soil at times would have be in the 20's (Celsius) in July-August.

Hmmm I've done soil temp testing in the fall but never during summer. guess I may have a new project :wink:

The bottom of the tray is still colonizing but it's almost ready.



The jar...not so much.....



Actually it is colonizing, but very slowly, as can be expected with this species.
