Medical Bills - F-ing bill collectors

Whats a good way to make these collectors stop calling me?

I'm not going to pay them. My total debt is like $100,000. I'll never get that paid, and I'm not even gonna try.

When they call I tell them I don't have a job yet. I just got over being deathly ill. But still, they call everyday.

Sometimes they call my parents house too looking for me, and they're old, they don't need the extra stress.

Damn.. learn your rights. I remember watching a news story about a guy in debt possibly unemployed and he turned his life around buy suing all the debt collectors for illegal practices.
For the life of me I can't find where I watched that. Thinking it was linked off of fark.com many months back.

Still learn your rights.

Medical Bills are fucking ridiculous.. I had to pay around $5000 just for a fucking ride to the hospital that was like a few blocks away. REALLY? If they would have told me I'd of gotten a fucking cab for like $20..

If filing bankruptcy is out of the question, get an answering machine or voice mail set to answer on the first ring.  Check it once a day. Return the calls you want and ignore the rest.  They're each allowed to call twice a day, between 8 A.M. and 9 P.M.  If there's a lot of them, your phone will ring all day.

how about changing your phone number?  I know its almost IMPOSSIBLE to do but if you try hard enough and think really really hard.  It could be made possible. I know its a far out there idea but shit in your situation you gotta try every option

I had some sort of bacteria on my lung and it kept building up fluid. I was admitted to the hospital 3 times for like 10 days a piece, 2 surgerys. Then 2 trips to the ER also.

Turned out the doctors were retarted and all I needed was 1 surgery, and to stay on antibiotics for 3 months or so to kill the bacteria.

I'm thinking filing bankruptcy will be the best option.
Its bull shit, I get sick, now I'm won't be alowed to finance anything for 7 years just because I didn't have health insurance.

I went and tried to get some government assistance with all the medical bills. They tell me I'm not eligible for tencare/medicare. Since they couldn't do anything, they gave me $200 bucks a month in food stamps. Real fucking helpful.
I'm not starving, I'm drowning in debt.

And I don't really want to change my phone number, I've had it for 10 years, my parents have had there's for even longer.

At least you dont owe that money to the asian mafia. Bancruptcy and such seem to be common options for alot of ppl lately. The system is clearly broken/inefficient

Are you kidding? It's easy as hell. Sign up for a new phone service and have them issue a new number. You can do it in like 10 minutes.

i would say if possible don't deal with the collection agency.  call the hospital up and ask them to put you on a payment plan.  You owe them 100k?  tell them you can pay 20$ a month.

Just ignore any numbers that you don't recognize, and check your voicemail often. That's what I do.

I would do this, but there are no jobs around here, I've been looking for 2 months. Filled out all types of applications online, looked in the next city over. Even applied for shitty fast food jobs, there's just nothing.

Plus I have a disability, I was born without sweat glands (anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia).
So finding work in the summer, I gotta be kinda choosy.
No outside work, no hard labor, hell, even working in a kitchen kicks my ass.

Fucked up thing is, I have found about 3 jobs that I could have gotten, but they were all outside work.
Working outside in 90 degree weather, I could last maybe 1 hour before I pass out from heat exhaustion. If even that long.

And no, the government does not see this disorder as a disability. They told me I could still get a stand up/sit down job so there is no reason I couldn't work. I've applied 4 or 5 times for disability.
