Pereskiopsis cold-hardiness level?
    #13083406 -

I know a lot of Opuntia related cacti are very well adapted to living in the cold, so it got me wonder how cold-hardy pereskiopsis is, since it is in the Opuntia tribe...

Does anyone have any data, stories, links, etc to help me figure out the cold hardiness of pereskiopsis?

Can it handle snow, frosts, etc?

Thank you in advance!

Pereskiopsis is not very cold hardy.  They are vigorous but a good freeze will turn them to mush.  I treat them much like I would any other tropical plant.

Once the temps dip below 50F/10C the leaves will fall off and they will remain dormant until the temperatures rise again. Most of mine have been covered but outside this Winter and are devoid of leaves. Some that were left exposed to the elements even began to rot.

Pereskiopsis loves blistering hot weather. It won't handle freezing conditions. Like Karode said, anything under around 10C and it will begin to suffer.
