Hi i was wondering what kind of mushrooms these are.  I found them near a lake around the interior.  They were all dry except for a few which unfortunately are dry now aswell.  All help is greatly appreciated. 

Habitat: On cow dung near a lake.

Gills: Light Brown to dark brown.

Stem: Whitish, dry, vary in size up to 3".

Cap: Light Brown to dark brown, golden.

Spore print color: Brown.

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Picked in southern British Columbia.

They look like Stropharia semiglobata

i've heard conflicting statements about their potency.. are they safe to eat/active at all?

They are not edible or active.  Where have you heard conflicting reports?

Wow.  I have often found these with nipples (var. stercoraria) and entirely olivaceous or blue and I know where to find those so if a TI can tell us they might be active I am well happy.

I think they are not edible or active, though.

It doesn't say anything about them being active,

The wording of these two sentences is ambiguous though, so I can see where you would think it said that they were active.
